So I manage to get to a handful of home games a season, and today decided to go pretty last minute. We ended up having tickets right next to the away fans today. Villa fans were in good voice, and we hardly heard the HF at all to be honest. We could see them clapping away but chants just weren't catching on. I really feel that in their former position in the ground they were at their most effective. They are now too far away from the Arthur (the stand most up for having a sing-song) and chants just aren't carrying. The Holmesdale aren't up for it and the result is a pretty mediocre atmosphere. Was surprised to hear a drum in the Arthur today (where'd that come from??!!) but it didn't have much of an effect anyway. So it makes me wonder why the HF have moved at all...?!! Better view? Less stewards (= more mischief?) Because in terms of spreading atmosphere their move has had the opposite effect! I've heard of unrest in the HF (new boys vs 2005 boys)... has their bubble burst? Maybe it's just shrinking.

We got a drummer in the arfur now.plus we started loads of songs plus we are older than the Ultras who look and sound great. But best of all is the way the whole ground joins in great sound today. Selhurst was rocking

They were in isolation until we scored. Then the whole ground was rocking. My brother and I feel moving centrally has made no difference at all. Edited by premier fan (31 Aug 2019 6.52pm) Problem is they’re singing songs nobody else knows or will sing with. That 15 minute rendition of the new version of ‘hey jude’ was particularly annoying with the far too loud drum and it just turns everyone off singing. It might take another season for more to move over there because the way they’re singing and drumming it’ll be the HF on their own. It is louder overall in snippets when we’ve scored or are on the up but that’s it. They need to fvck off with the HF bobbing up and down HF only sh1t songs. Our atmosphere is just a far too loud drum most of the time.

Yes I noticed that. As a result, half the time today the arfur weren’t singing the same songs as the ultras. Whenevr something good happened it was PALACE xxx.

How was Block B now the HF have moved out? Are people still trying to get it going there or has it subdued a bit?

We're in Block F and it was deafening at one point yesterday (that bloody drum). I just feel that crowd noise should respond to what's happening on the pitch rather than just beaing a constant noise.

Watched the game on BEIN HD7 yesterday. Palace fans came across loud and clear for all of the match, in fact can't recall hearing Villa fans.

Roof came off when we scored and carried on till FT and you couldn't hear the HF over the rest of the stadium at that point but the non stop drumming/chanting keeps some noise going up to that point I suppose. If that's your cup of splosh.

Selhurst was rocking The drummer in the Arthur wound me up all game. I could hear the HF drum, and then his drum, at a completely different rhythm and tempo, not to mention the Arthur drum itself has a terrible sound to it. He was just randomly banging it in no particular tune or style. Everyone around me in Block X were very aggravated by it.
