As for "all we've just been through", numerous HOL posters have in fact remained relatively positive through the close season, so I'm not sure who you mean by "we'. Anyway, for the record, this in my opinion is a far more positive and encouraging 0-0 home draw against Everton than the one a few short months ago (which I attended), when we played pretty badly and were extremely lucky to emerge with a point.

Such negativity from the prophets of doom. The team played really well in the second half and should just about won the game. In Roy we trust!

A good point and a good display by our defensive. But why on earth not go for a winner in the end? Just saw Villa go 1 - 0 up at Spurs - after two Villa players chasing the ball centrally up front. Wouldn’t have happened with us, cause Roy would never allow such “risk” - but preferred 10 players defending. A pity.

We should have won it really, but its a good point against a dangerous side. A dangerous side who were delighted to walk out of that with a point in the end. More than the point its about the performance. It was a good home performance and sets the tone well, missing some players who can only make us better. Second stringers at both CB positions and they looked solid. We have Sakho and Tomkins to walk back in there. We were not quite at it first half but second half we started to get things going. Zaha is not fully up to speed but he will get there and we still have Camarasa to come in and show some creativity. It aint good news for Jeff Schlupp basically but I am ok with that - our midfield is stacked. Our issue re depth is at fullback and do we have a striker at the club who can hit the onion bag? Zaha will get goals but if Benteke or Wickham can actually fire we could be dangerous. Possibly out until October/November apparently

I'm just back from the game and fairly pleased. I thought we competed well and it was a pretty sound performance and, individually, an encouraging one from Ayew. I also thought, amongst others, Ward and Kelly played well. However, there is still the ongoing worry of where the goals are going to come from.

Decent start. No one had a bad game. Decent effort all round. Would be nice to have a bit more quality in places but can’t fault the players. Good to see some improvements to the Clifton.

Second half we played some good stuff, against a pretty solid Everton side.

A fair result. Encouraging signs for us in the second half but it really is concerning as to where the goals are going to come from. But this was the feeling before the game given that Benteke,Wickham and Ayew had scored 4 goals between them last season. Edited by Willo (10 Aug 2019 8.03pm)

We looked well organised as always but boy oh boy why did we not invest in a striker who knows how to finish! With a Pukki or Maupay in the side Palace would have picked up all three points!
