If it was the only museum then that would indeed be a problem.

There are no race based museums. So again, where is the diversity in a 'black culture museum'.

But the museum itself could have exhibits from the black pharoahs but ignore the white ones. Kind of ghettoisation of a museum now. How is that promoting diversity - surely cultural racism by the museum, rather thàn equality?

Could have...

You're now questioning whether a hypothetical exhibition created in your own mind, promotes diversity, amazing.

The thread was begun by Sterling.

Sure I'm not left wing, I don't believe in starting museums based upon skin colour......You apparently do.

The article that this thread was based upon was written by the BBC website team.

The proposal for a 'black culture' museum was put forward by the highly oppressed 'Sir David Adjaye'.

No proposal, no article, no thread.

There is no one on this thread called 'Sterling'.

Not sure where my post mentions this but the whole point of the idea is to provide more coverage of this sub-sector of history.

Where's the diversity in the Science Museum? The Mary Rose museum? The Roman Baths?

Let's not forget of course, I don't regard 'diversity' as important or required within a integrated meritocracy.

However, lets look at the museums you mention.

There isn't any race based aspect to Science.

The Mary Rose museum is about a ship......You ask about diversity in a museum about a ship? Seriously?

The Roman baths.....The Romans were Italians living in a foreign land.....Diversity staring you in the face.

Not that this should be important at all.

I'd like my future children to learn about the Windrush generation , for example. Windrush was undeniably a pivotal moment in British culture and diversity, and sadly, first hand accounts of this will be increasingly hard to come by for th next generation.

Dude. In modern Britain, I think there is absolutely no chance whatsoever that your kids won't learn about Windrush whether they like it or not.

To be honest. If you want to know about something in 2018, you only have to go looking. Information is everywhere. Some of it is even true.

Seriously?

Show me some science discovered by Black people and I'm sure it would be included.

The others are local attractions attached to specific historical artefacts.

Show me a British archeological site specifically related to Black people and I'm sure we can build a museum on it.

You seem to be avoiding the obvious here.

You have been misrepresenting national museums. If you went to them and told them that they represent 'white culture' to the exclusion of others. I can't see you getting much agreement.

Yet it's me whose dancing on the point of a needle?

There are very few if any people on this site who I would describe as genuine trolls but, you are as close as it gets.

Do you have any sort of intelligent, sensible contribution to make to this thread?
