Cardiff to tell FIFA that the contract is null and void. As the PL had rejected the original deal and he didn't get the chance to sign a new one.

I read earlier that the contract wasn't PL 'approved' but in essence it amounts to nothing more than a simple/regular formality. Don't make an awful situation worse, do the honourable thing, take it on the chin and move on.

I have no idea how the deal was structured, but my first thought is that they'll have to pay up. Unless the PL paperwork forms part of the contract? Like a clause: "subject to PL ratification" Seems like a sensible policy in case of Visa issues or a failed drugs test/ unknown ban etc. Whatever the contract says should be definitive. Wait and see I suppose.

It’s easy to moralise in these situations, a terrible thing has happened. But try and tell me anyone on here would pay £15m that they didn’t absolutely have to....do me a favour chaps.

Premier League clubs are swimming in cash nowadays, and Cardiff City would surely have had the funds in place to pay for the player before the accident occurred. They will do their 'global brand' no favours at all by attempting to weasel out of the deal.

High levels of morality and high levels of cash aren't mutually exclusive. They are just rarer than a virgin on Tinder.

Surely all players must be insured by the club who employ them?.

The actions from both sides make a tragic situation worse. The understandable outpouring of grief at the time by the fans now looks meaningless in the light of their club's stance refusing to acknowledge they signed the player in a typically complex Willie McKay deal. Just looks like meat trading now.
