I’ve seen him impersonating a goalkeeper several times I find that far more offensive

What is it then?

It’s mocking Hitler.

The ‘Basil Fawlty’ style mock salute with the finger over the top lip to simulate the toothbrush moustache is a p1ss take of Hitler. Far from being a sign of support for the fascist cause, it is the very opposite. It’s anti-nazi.

Anyway, It's all forgotten now, and let's hear no more about it. So, that's two egg mayonnaise, a prawn Goebbels, a Hermann Goering, and four Colditz salads.

What it doesn’t show is the footage either side of the incident.

Not a Hennessy fan as a goalkeeper, but can’t see him doing this. Think Ed Miliband eating a bacon roll, bad picture at a moment.

And to anyone saying admit it was silly banter, if he didn’t do it deliberately then why the hell should he admit it? Innocent until proven guilty and it can’t be proven!

This is just another example of the dumbing down of society by social media.

What utter nonsense. A mock Hitler salute is not a symbol of support for fascism. And it is only offensive to Nazis!

Is there anyone in Britain who doesn't think Hitler was a c***? That b****** condemned my generation to a far less prosperous existence than we could have otherwise expected.
I get that Nazi related jokes are still not funny to many Jews and other victims relatives but Mel Brooks made some money from Hitler jokes so there is at least one Jew (probably many more) who feel comfortable with Nazi humour.
Dark humour has always been a way that some deal with the horrible stuff. For others, it will never be time for Nazi jokes and one has to respect that. For most of us, it really isn't something to get uptight about.

He's dead, We won, so let's be grateful and lighten up a little.

Someone doing a Nazi salute after a few beers at a lads night out really isn't supporting fascism or thinking too deeply at all.
Let's not use it as an excuse for a meltdown.

I will say one other thing in regard to this storm in a tea cup. If...the hierarchy of this my beloved CPFC...decide...to give-in to this fascist PC media attack by these loathsome, fake news, bottom-of-the-barrel journalists who are driven only by their desperation for a story to write regardless of facts... If in their wisdom they cave-in and publicly reprimand Wayne Hennessey, throwing one of their own loyal players to the sh1te British press wolves, then the 50+ years of me being a supporter of this club will come to an abrupt and utter end. I am serious. Even making him give a teeny weeny apology for making a bad joke. This PC attack on freedom of expression or speech is a serious, scary, thing that is happening in our country. I have no respect for those who assist its growth by giving in to it. If people can't make jokes at parties anymore we are in serious trouble. Even bad, tasteless jokes, which BTW was clearly not the category of this one - if it was an intentional send-up of John Basil Fawlty Cleese at all. I am 100% behind you Wayne (as the bishop said to the choir boy).

Exactly. Why do people think a childish salute is equivalent to a ringing endorsement of the horrors of the holocaust? Could people please wind their necks in and find something else to worry about. There’s plenty.
