Yes, good old British humour. What a laugh. Dozens of people die in an horrific fire (including children) and we can always see the funny side.

Then we get the other comments about freedom of speech. Yes, it is quite alright to gloat over the hideous deaths, especially if the majority of people involved have different skin pigments to us.

Some of the contributions on here are a disgrace and makes me a feel a bit sick that I support the same football team as the people who write them.

Read your post...what a virtue signalling tart!

Freedom of speech is a British tradition, Braunie. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean things or people should be banned.

Heavens above, if we were that sensitive about 'feelings', Graeme Norton, Michael McIntyre and Piers Morgan would be be burning even as we speak.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Other clubs are available if you're that bothered.

Who is defending what exactly?

As for banning.....If you like banning, why are you on this forum? The bbs is available.

I found the Grenfell 'joke' highly offensive.....though bad taste jokes about tragedies are part of human nature.

That said, I'm completely and utterly fed up with censorship....the 'mark' can 'set and go' as far as I'm concerned.....people should have the right of reply and then block.

Some people say horrible stuff and if someone can take an inch, another will take a mile....People with sense knows that and whitewashing reality away doesn't change it.

cryrst was making a point but I know he understands that much as the treatment of Robinson annoys me jokes about him are not comparable to people making light of a high rise going up and people being human torches....But I take his point about offense being different for different people.

Thanks Stirling but I bet most people laughed at basil goosestepping and not considering 6 million jews.
If it fits the up to date mantra then so be it.
Hypocrisy is a two way street.
You might think you learnt from the past but you still laughed back then.

You missed the point of the joke. It was about Basil's behaviour (as most of the series was), not what the Nazis did. Having said that, some of the posters on here would probably think a skit about men, women and children being gassed would be good old British humour or defend it on freedom of speech grounds.
