Absolute rubbish, Meyer has played well today and has done in most games he has played in. I think it’s been a good team performance against a very good Chelsea team.

Wow, we must have been watching different games in that case. For me that was a 3/10 performance from him, nowhere near the required standard.

Hopefully he will improve as he settles into the premier league.

Lost to the better team and not by a cricket score. When you have a bench like Chelsea had today it must be easy being a manager: "Oh, we're drawing against a team with an inferior squad, whatever must I do? Oh yes..."

We should have defended that second goal better though. Kouyate was flapping his arms like he didn't know where he should be or who he should be marking. Morata cleared that up for him.

Chelsea away will be the second or third hardest fixture of the season. Only -2 to the goal difference and we managed to score from open play - let's just move on to the next.

Agreed. Comments of players out their depth, they are, against a side looking to win the league, unbeaten in 11 games playing some top football.. only a few teams who wouldn’t look out their depth.

As previously mentioned, we showed some good football, Meyer’s now in the team and we didn’t look to unbalanced so no reason for Roy to change the side. Next game under the lights of Selhurst, against a Spurs side who don’t look great at the back. COYP

Frustrating to lose that by going to sleep at set pieces because for little possession we gave them some problems and got back into it early in the second half.

Most sides can't deal with Wilf as well as Chelsea did today and certainly won't take 80% possession from us. But conceding silly free kicks and failing to defend them doesn't help.

Sub-standard defending from free kicks.
Just before their second goal, Luiz had a free header from a free kick.
In the first half from a free kick they won two headers in the box.
Hodgson must be so disappointed with the defending from set-plays.

I’ve watched him play, quite regularly for about 4 years, it’s got nothing to do with reputation. He’s looked below par because he’s been played out of position up until now.

The RLC role that he had today is the one he should have against lesser opposition. Judging him on chameo appearances as a defensive midfielder and one game away at Chelsea where he’s actually given the right role in midfield is ridiculous IMO.

But that won’t stop Palace fans turning on him. I called it the other night.

Well I’m happy to hear your thoughts, as you’ve obviously seen much more of him than I have.

Out of interest, he’s listed as 5’8” but to me looks much smaller. Do you think he has the physicality for the prem?

Agreed.

I think the worrying thing today was more shoddy defending than anything else.

Great team, but their second and third goal was, as Neil Warnock would put it, “soft as s***”.

Agree.

Judge our team on the next performance against a side around our level.

To be fair we have been abysmal against such teams so far, but this is where we will succumb to or avoid relegation, not at Chelsea.

The Spuds ? and then Man Ure ? Can't see it getting better until Burnley in terms of games. Could be 7 points from 13 by then, 2 wins from parity and where we should at least be. Positives, lots of poor teams at the bottom at the moment and is going to be a real scrap down there. COYP !!

Outclassed and outplayed by a quality Chelsea side. They will be challenging for the league this year. Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of but our defending for the goals was shocking.

Ayew is a joke of a player and I really can't wait till Benteke comes back at this stage. He will be straight back into the first 11.
