I think the point that everyone is missing here, is that SP owns the club not you or I He does. Therefore he can pretty much do what he wants. However there a number of points from your post I wish to address firstly the HF are not 400 strong, nearer a 100, so I have no idea where you get the 400 figure from. Have you ever stopped to think that the flat as a witches tit atmosphere may be the reason the palyers aren't sparking ? Lastly the simple fact is the atmosphere is better with the HF, are they better fans than those mealy mouthed whingebags in block E, yes I think so they certainly do more than just turn up and watch, do they not ? lastly they are being asked to potentially move seats, not donate a kidney or get their kids pissed on Christmas morning. Would I move to accommodate the HF ? Absolutely the much praised atmosphere at Selhurst that made us the pride of South London has gone and its now no different to the library at the emirates without them. Harsh but true. Last season there were around 100. One of the reasons they want to move is to expand. As SP has not given the current occupants on block E thd option to stay and join the singing section, and in his own words he knows already who will be taking those seats, I'll be amazed if the HF wont be takng over those seats..

I believe this is the figure quoted by SP. It is the number of ST holders who have been told to mover undoubted knowledge of the HF maybe you can explain where 400 has come from and who are the people who have obviously been promised those seats.

I take it you will be just as happy to give up your seat then to allow one of the displaced supporters to have then, along with all the others that would happily give up there seats to accommodate the HF...in a roundabout way that is what you will be doing

if we had terraces, if the lower Holmesdale were terraced, I reckon the singers in that stand would congregate exactly where Parish wants the singing section. so there is a natural order that places them there. don't get me wrong, I have immense sympathy for the block E people, but all seater stadia have made English football matches among the most sterile in Europe. Possibly the most sterile. So too has the constant renewal of the same fans in the same seats, year after year. to that end, this is a tiny effort to redress the balance. a truly tiny effort. another way to think of it is...what would the lower Holmesdale do if it became terraced? would several thousand people complain about the displacement, or would a return to better days be widely celebrated. I think the latter. yet the result of terracing that stand would be far more profound. The HF make a dire atmosphere slightly better. perhaps in the right area, and backed by the club, they could make it half decent. That's a prize worth fighting for in my book.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

The so called "singers/HF" chose to be in block B,and no one forced them to move.

Without taking sides, I will be pleased with the introduction of the singing section. I feel sorry for those being forced out of their seats but at the same time this is the only way for the HF to expand and really ramp up our atmosphere.

Possibly the most cynical post I’ve written but…… Maybe Steve Parish didn’t give in to blackmail but orchestrated the whole thing? Parish is not a stupid person – inheriting The Adplates Group and turning it into one of the most successful Marketing Implementation agencies in the world before selling it on to Williams Lea. He is surrounded by highly intelligent strategists, consultants and marketing experts. Crystal Palace is a brand and like it or not the HF have been moulded into a large part of that brand. Hence the media and TV coverage they receive (which for a group of 100 is exceptional). I often wondered how this group could afford some of the displays they put on without corporate help so maybe there were deep pockets operating in the background? Parish certainly has the expertise and resource at his fingertips to organise these media displays. Seems to have closed-door meeting with the HF leaders and I also wondered how they could have so many tickets for certain away games put aside in blocks for them to pick up at pre-arranged times. Football will surely move into the pay per view arena in the very near future with a global pay per view audience and American backers Crystal Palace need to raise their profile abroad. They need to look good on TV (not only on the pitch but on the terrace as well). To entice an audience in what will be a crowded market you need a USP and that could well be the HF centre stage in full view of the TV cameras with a backdrop of a new main stand, Palace need to be able to show the full entertainment package. Sitting in the corner just doesn’t cut it. They need to spread to cover the whole lower Holmesdale to have the full impact. Moving loyal block E supporters from centre stage may just be an inconvenience in the implementation of a marketing strategy. There may be an outcry from other supporters but do people really care so much? It seems most think it is an injustice but want the HF cheerleaders back as they miss the noise and entertainment they bring– especially when it’s a dull game…(Think of the HF as the crystals but on the terrace – they are the entertainment during the game – hence why some of them don’t watch the game but have their backs to it conducting the ‘singers’ – if you were a real ‘fanatic’ could you bear to not watch the game?) Sounds like Parish has already sorted out who has first shout on these centre stage seats. Whatever happens and however much this splits the support, Crystal Palace is a business and supporters are customers – just happens that there are more potential customers outside Selhurst Park than inside. Inconveniencing / sacrificing the 400 E Blockers to implement a corporate strategy will have been considered and agreed as low-risk by consultants, business advisers and legal departments. I would expect the rejig of the Lower Holmesdale to coincide with a few good signings to improve the team – Palace go in a winning streak and all of this will be forgotten. (Part of me doesn't think it is coincidence that the HF pulling out coincides with poor performances to get the most impact - Palace have a recent history of poor home starts to the season so as an implementation strategy the timing is perfect.) Successful team with a high profile fan base creating a me-too scenario for armchair audience becomes a marketing man’s dream – can sell that into any media. As I mentioned at the start of this post maybe cynical – maybe not I’d like to think that you are wrong and way off the mark, but...

One of the questions this raises and i have seen no answers given by club. The 300 new singers are they existing season ticket holders? If so where do they sit? I may be cynical but suspect they do not have seasons so this is a way of getting to jump the queue for season. The club needs to answer a few very simple question. On a personal level I have no objection to singing section (so I support the concept). However the club should have been far more open in its discussions and got a clear mandate from the supporters and had a much wider dialogue over solutions. I feel that SP should resign as a director of the limited companies that own the club as due diligence in these decisions has not been clearly taken. He should hand over day to day running of the club to directors appointed by the shareholders (of which he is one) who understand how a football club is run and the importance of longterm fans.
