I get the impression that we weren't in for Tosun. He seems to have been someone that Sam wanted when he was here and we could have had him for half what Everton ended up paying for him. This. If there was a falling out with between Sam and Parish over signings/budget for the new season this deal may have been part of it. Tosun might well go on to be a wonder signing but it certainly hasn’t started that well in which case we might have to be thankful that with Sam ‘retiring’ when he did we possibly swerved a very expensive dud - in this instance at least. I read your post with some relief that you aren't perfect and have employed some sh_te people, but you don't accept that other people can make the same error. Referencing past Chairmen is relevant, as they have all had an opportunity to progress the club and all failed. It doesn't matter what era it is, the task is the same. I doubt you were or any other poster privy to the negotiations on any transfers, but prefer to make up your own version to suit your agenda. The harsh reality is, we and all apart from about 8 clubs are going to be relegated at some point. So what is the progression you want? we don't generate the same income as a lot of Premier teams as our match day revenue is limited due to the size of the Stadium, which Parish is trying to address, until then is always going a them and us situation. Past Chairmen haven't been able to improve the Stadium as Noades held the keys and stopped us trying to progress. Southampton always seem to be held up, as a well run club, we should aspire to be, but it looks like they may struggle to survive. Nobody is perfect, who do you think is perfect to run our club? Someone who understood that in the summer window we desperately needed to bring a striker in, and had to get some business done up front at all costs. Someone who understood that in the last window, we desperately needed to bring a keeper in (even our manager said it 20 times), and had to get some business done in goal at all costs. Someone who wont take 2 weeks too long to conduct a managerial search, and then appoint a manager who is so horrendously ill-suited to our club that he may aswell have given the reins to Dame Edna. As I have said before to the 50 times people say "well what should we do then" If I dare to question Parish's position, I believe he should step back from managerial and transfer matters and concentrate on the business side. He could give those responsibilities to the best person in the club that he believes could take that on. Maybe its Freedman. Heck, I would even be happy to see Brighty have a shot at it because the guy was a player, and he understands the game. I guess Mark Bright wouldn't have let us walk out of the last window without any cover for Benteke. If no one fits the bill then bring someone in who could take a leading role in those matters. And for the love of God, give it to a football man, not someone who cut their teeth running a marketing firm.

Yes the chairman determines the overall budget and negotiates the purchases and contracts but the policy is dictated by the manager. Budget and policy are not the same thing. 100% of British managers would walk if they didn't have final say in who their club buys and (to a lesser extent) sells. If a manager says they want player X and they are in budget any decent chairman would support their manager's opinion as if not why give them the job. SP has over the last few years been pretty supportive of managers in that respect. Obviously you've never liked SP so consider our current unbalanced squad all his fault. Last sentence makes you sound 9 years old. So going by what you've said, what Roy said he needed and those small costs involved, who is at fault recently, or fonyou think it was a success?

Just because you think you can do better, isn't really going to sway him. I don't get the taking 2 weeks too long to appoint a manager, what difference did it make, de Boer wasn't the right man, I seem to remember Hodgson was appointed within a week.

We are not in a position to get deals done “at all costs” Parish has made mistakes as most recognise. To right them takes money and money we don’t have to blow in one or two windows certainly not a January window. Also we have had problems with managers, I am sure some of the blame lies with the board and SP but equally some of it has been the managers. SP has backed managers, unfortunately some of the players brought in haven’t been good enough. That’s down to the managers. There’s a big rebuilding program that needs to be done. We cannot pay over the odds

I'm not sure what gives you that impression. It's all over the press what happened, days later he's banging in goals and winners in the champions league, everyone knows about him, Everton have ready cash and a shortage of strikers. You barely even needed to scout him.

It would be lovely wouldn't it, but this isn't fantasy league football, it is reality and in reality we are doing well in my opinion to be where we are. So before anyone else moans on here about anyone and everyone in the management structure of our club, take a step back, draw breath and try and think of the reasons why transfers and other significant matters haven't been dealt with exactly the way you want them to, rather than just simply complaining. Are you ever capable of not going from one extreme to the other, or using both extremes to make a point. Is there nothing in between in your world. Every thing you say is either one extreme or the other. Ironically it's a bit immature.

I guess SP isn’t under the control, threat or pressure as the powers at West Brom. I wouldn’t have SP out, but it’s a little bit like Benteke not having competition.

I feel everything right now stems from the summer fdb appointment. From what I've read the failure to acquire players over the summer came from a mismatch of expectations (fdb not having a list and expecting the club to do it vs the club experience of experienced managers who have their list and get their players). We've been playing catch up since then but we have made a lot of progress. Looking at the longer view sp has done right by us and we should not take that for granted. Right person to take us forward? Not sure who else would match the good things about him - i like having a fan as otherwise you end up like arsenal, the board not caring like we do. If he solves whatever hisvweaknesses are (be they knowledge of infrastructure investments for the club or transfer nouse) by bringing in thr right support then i cant see there's anyone better suited.
