Not sure what’s happened to Wilf the last few games either but looks like he needs a little rocket up his arse. Not taking players on like usual and looks a bit half hearted at times. That little bit right at the end of the half was more like him. He's carried us all year. Must have been emotionally and physically draining doing so. Especially the insane form he was in around Nov / December.

I can see plenty more cards in the second half. Although probably just for us given the refs apparent reluctance to book their players. Moyes has sent his team out to be aggressive and by and large it's worked for them. Zabayeta has always been an agricultural tackler and if he'd missed the ball that would be a studs up red card challenge. I am worried that the fat ginger will injure Wilf with his aggressive style, but I suppose sometimes you have to let the kids grow up We looked out of sorts with such an attacking line up, so now with Cabaye on we might look more composed. On a final note, it was great to see Tekkers get another goal. I think 45 minutes of Cabaye is what we need. That Mario has been controlling the midfield too much and we need to settle down in there and get some good passes out. Maybe Sakho on at some time to help organise and control - perhaps for Tomkins since he has a yellow and things are a bit frenetic. I bet that Swarbrick is itching to send him off. Bakary Sakho seemed to think he could carry on so maybe just a twist like Cabaye's. Anyone know anything? Edited by chateauferret (30 Jan 2018 8.50pm)

Swansea look to be giving Arsenal a bit of a game. Hopefully Wenger fires them up at half time. Liverpool battering Huddersfield and now that they are 2-0 up should hang on there (he says hopefully).

Edited by chateauferret (30 Jan 2018 8.50pm) It looked pretty painful to me and the opinion seems to be that he wandered on and sat down so we could have time to make the substitution. Sako was certainly wincing a lot as he walked.

The problem is we expect far too much from him. If the team plays football in the final third he will always have a moment of making the difference. Even if it's not as obvious as a goal or assist. When we play 442 the wide men are defensive wingers who are more referred to as wide midfielders and he's not far enough up the pitch. When he plays off the striker and we just go hoofball to Benteke every time we look up, he's feeding off scraps. If we play football, Wilf will get involved, that's almost a guarantee. We can't always expect him to be superman when the rest of the team is offering very little to give him freedom to express himself. That's what it's about for me, not whether we play him wide/up front, it's about engineering space for him to have freedom. We do that, and there'll be precious little West Ham or many teams can do to stop him.

I actually thought he was doing all right, he seems to be putting more crosses in today rather than pissing around with the ball until he loses it. Also comes down to how well the other team cover him. Edited by boo909 (30 Jan 2018 8.55pm)
