We look vulnerable on the break but have settled in to the game a bit. No end product and benteke is awful. Sako needs 30 mins for benteke. He'll work for it. PVA on for a midfielder and Jairo on for Cabaye or Mili? Not all at once mind!

The annoying thing is that Southampton are poor and we are worse than them. I’ve held off having a go at Benteke but my goodness what’s he out there for. There is no running of the ball to find space and his distribution is shocking. Don’t get me started on Townsend:-)

Apparently in the case of Citibank you can have them stretchered off the field and barely able to hobble about and two days later they are unaffected. Either that or someone's telling errm porkies.

He took some flak after the Citeh game for (amongst other things) not going to the near post when a low cut-back is the obvious play. He did that today, but so did everyone else - probably assuming he'd go and hide at the centre of the goal as usual. Anyone checking their run would've had a side-foot, tap in to an open goal. Even Townsend couldn't miss that...

just hoping the players was in energy saving mode and will come out second half with a burst to catch Southampton out. This does show if we had got few players in early they could of been playing now so you dont have to put up with the likes on Benteke

Benteke really is a waste of space. Positional sense I think being one of his worst attributes. Hate to say he actually looks dumb when he plays. Townsend a real underachiever in this team and I don't think he's actually much better now than he was when he first came to palace, I remember there was a time where he was the main receiver of abuse on this forum for not showing up. How can you perform so well against a team like city and put so much effort in and then perform like this and loose focus against Southampton. I know the games are close together but these are professional athletes. Dig in. The amount of time zaha plays a great ball into the box and no one is supporting him. Christ it gets on my tits. It is definitely time to haul Benteke off at half time. I am sick and tired of defending him. There is no way he coukd be tired because he ran less than everyone else against City.

I just want some competition for benteke. He’s so low on confidence in front of goal you’d think he’d at least put some effort in - our players are winning the ball, looking up and seeing him standing still, they hesitate and then rush the pass or lose it. Need a Long/Vardy type player to work hard and run the channels. Edited by A89M (02 Jan 2018 8.41pm)
