Exactly. If they were league and European champions I'd maybe pay them a bit more attention, but they're actually no better than us currently.

There are certainly aspects of Southampton where we look up at them.

They have a 'Category 1' academy and in recent years have produced the likes of Calum Chambers,Luke Shaw,Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott etc etc. They have excellent training facilities at Marchwood.

They have a modern stadium and regularly get crowds of around 31,000.

They are never really talked about as relegation candidates.

You're looking at it the wrong way, Dave. It's something that gives you extra options in the market, and gives you more information - it is not the be all end all to signing players and managers.

No better than us? How do you come to that conclusion, then?

If things go the same way as they have previously, Roy will get us to 11th then retire and England will have a shocker and fire Southgate who will return to Selhurst.
I’d like Roy to do three years, Dougie to become more involved and to eventually succeed him and involve Jules who will surely have finished by then.
We are what we are, ‘unique’ as Shaun Derry has said. The worst thing we could do as a club is go down the route we took last summer.

The FA have said that Southgate will remain in situ after the World Cup irrespective of how England do.

Hardly say these were 'recent' years

I don't want 'Dougie' any more involved than he currently is. He'd either be rubbish, or if he's good, he'll be looking out for a better job. I'd like to see Jedinak involved when he retires from playing and given a shot at coaching to see if he's any good, the prepared for management if he is.

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue
Yours sincerely
Mile Jedinak

Good shout on Jedi, as for Dougie his hol radio interview was brilliant and I forgave him for the Bolton thing. He went above and beyond for the club and made a mistake that he admitted he regrets.
Jedi would be interesting and I think it’s the way we should go ( people that understand Palace).
Get him in when he retires, in Roy we have someone perfect to serve an apprenticeship under.

Sorry, I don't get all this 'give Jedi a go' stuff.
Has he even suggested that he may want to go into management?
Just because he was a great player/captain for us, it doesn't follow that he would be a good manager...Roy Keane anyone?

Call me cold but I'd rather have the best available and possible in every position of the club rather than someone who understands Palace, whatever the fvck that means. The club is going to change if and when we build the main stand and more plus a new training ground. Frankly I don't want to cling onto things when there's better moving forward. There should be doctors for this sort of illness.

No not cold you just have an opinion which is fair enough. I’m just scared by the FDB episode, which at the time I was excited by.
I have come around to the whole palace dna argument which I think can be met by a young exciting manager (who granted doesn’t yet exists) who could learn the trade from Roy.

I like your old fashioned innocence, when Southgate gets set up by a media sting involving money or women, he will be jettisoned quick.
