I think you're judgement is very clouded or you're not thinking right. Well I would love to know on what evidence you base Steve Mandanda is a good goalkeeper based on his performances for Palace.

You seriously risk making yourself look a tit if he stays (which I think he may well do now) and proves himself. A witch hunt based on assumptions is nothing but pointless. If he doesn't really wanna be here, he'll go. If he turns out to be overhyped, then he turns out to be overhyped. I just cannot see how confidently those are to write him off after 10 games in front of a Pardew defence at it's absolute worst. Scott Dann couldn't even defend and he has undoubtedly been one of our best players for years (another guy I think should return to the first team but that's another story). We need someone new in goal and under new management with a better squad, a fully fit Mandanda could end up being the coup he was initially intended to be. If not, then he's not, but I cannot see any reason or point to not getting behind him if it turns out he is in fact in FDB's plans. So many things go on behind closed doors that we don't know about and that's a fact. No one can say for sure the circumstances under which Sam didn't pick him. Be it fitness, attitude, not thinking he was good enough or just simply not wanting to mess with a system that was working. Whatever it was, turning on one of our own players who has barely even been on the pitch yet is utterly stupid and counterproductive, especially when our goalkeeping situation is already pretty desperate as it is. New season, new manager, new start. If he turns out to be pony or a w***er then he deserves every bit of stick he'll get. Until then, let's get behind the boys. I'd seen enough of him in English football to know what I was on about well before we even signed him. The evidence I speak of Is stacked for Steve to be given a real chance to prove himself in a Palace shirt. You don't win the accolades he has in football and become the most successful international team of the last 20 years goalie of you're not very good. Can't happen by luck. Good post. Something happened towards the end of last year that is obvious. As stated above he couldn't even get on the bench. Parish has come out and backed him to turn up for preseason and at the same time sung his praises as a person. Parish has maybe stuck his neck out and is looking for a response. However I personally suspect he wants him to play the game and help steve get a decent offer he can accept without everything going to s***.... I still doubt he'll be with us next season although I also don't doubt that he's a decent keeper. I thought he done decent in his ten games, considering the shower he had in front of him... But all the stories about him wanting out and not featuring at all in the second half of the season. I'll be hugely suprissed if he's still with us in August. Although that being said if he wants to stay and fight for his place then good luck to him and he'll get my support..

Good post. Some players fall out with certain managers. It happens all the time in football. Wouldn't read too much into it.

Hennessey is not as bad as you constantly claim and has done a reasonable job for Palace over the last couple of seasons when we had little options. He has played his part in keeping us in the Premier and getting us to a cup final. Steve's chance at Palace , so far 10 games , no clean sheets, conceded some very dubious goals by looking very slow at getting down , got injured then could not get back on the bench. As I said in a previous post , it will be great for Palace if Steve finds a bit of fight and shows us why he is a 'top international' keeper , and I hope he does, but I cannot justify bigging up a man who has done nothing for Palace just yet.

Barthez was still playing for France 12 years retiring after the 2006 WC with Lloris coming up through the ranks and being around the senior team from around 2008. So yes they've had decent keepers about in france during the past 12 years. So Mandanda has had to win his international caps on merit. Reason aplenty to give him more than 10 games to prove himself in a Palace top, if he so wants to. Edited by Brentmiester_General (02 Jul 2017 9.49am)

Superbly put. Just don't get bigging up a person, who done little to warrant his hefty salary. A true professional would of worked harder to get back in the side. This situation reminds me of Johnny Williams. Judge him on what he's done, rather than his background.
