It is twice the amount of votes her father got 10 yrs ago. It would be silly to dismiss them. Firstly because they clearly have a sense of injustice that needs addressing and secondly, it is fertile ground to cultivate the more extreme elements of the right. Indeed. But if her father, an out and out racist and anti-semite, got half the amount before there is no doubt then that there is a far-right element in France, a sizeable group that would not be, if they were being honest, opining about 'injustice' but more about another person's skin colour. Best the concerns of those types aren't addressed.

For many yes, but unless you try and understand why people who otherwise have been welcoming / tolerant have changed their views then you won't stop them. Look at America second and third generation Mexican Americans voting for Trump. Wanting him to build the wall. I would imagine that the main reason is economic, just dismissing them as racist won't solve the problem, it will possibly aggravate it.

She got a third of the votes and plenty of those would have been far-right from way back. Some will have voted out of desperation and some, like yourself and a few others on here, would have voted for her because you lost your sense of reason a long time ago too. People like you always find a way to rationalise everything so it fits with your blinkered belief system.

Indeed, while I don't agree with a fair amount of her policies I definitely don't agree with the very pro EU Macron. I hope two thirds of the French who voted like what they are getting because it's very much the same. He says he's going to make the business environment competitive. Well, we will see about that but what they are also going to get is increasing Islamic immigration with all its 'cultural enrichment' mostly from the middle east. As the percent goes up so will their problems....As approximately half are very socially conservative and won't integrate easily. They voted for it, they can lap it up.

There is an element of 'reap what you sow' in French history recently. Trace back to The Algerian War of Independence and the locals who fought with the French (the Harkis) having to flee to France to avoid being massacred once the battle was lost. It seems they weren't really allowed to integrate even if patriotic. Hence, the ghettoes.
