Signed for Bournemouth. Great finisher but the money is crazy for a club their (and our) size when there is no sell on value. He hasn't signed, demanding £8m signing on fee and 3 year deal at £80k a week.

This smacks of desperation for both man & club.

"It was an easy decision, joining a top team with a top manager. The one thing I can guarantee is goals." It would be funny if he doesn't score any having said that. Also, since when have Bournemouth been a top team?

I don't know the details of the contract but if he scores 10 -15 goals for Bournemouth and that keeps them up, he'll be worth it to them. And he will score goals, not sure how many. It's a gamble for them but look at the money we paid for Benteke, take away his goals last season and we're in the Championship. There was a point last season when I would have jumped at Defoe coming here but we can now afford to look at options that provide better value for money and that also fit in with the clubs long term ambitions. But it makes sense for him to go there, they are probably where we were a couple of seasons ago and if a player like him had come up for us then, we would have jumped at the chance to sign him. He's no Edgar Davids..

Bournemouth finished well ahead of us in the league last season so I don't see why this smacks of desperation for Defoe and time will tell whether it was a good signing for Bournemouth - that is if you believe what the media are saying about his financial demands

this sounds like one of those ridiculous stories but... my mates dad is a good friend of big Sams agent, who I had the pleasure of meeting once (bit arrogant but nice guy, clearly loaded). Apparently we were very close to signing defoe but didnt want to pay his wages and it was on the day that we decided not to do the deal that Sam started making noises about leaving due to health reasons
