Pardew never once took us into the relegation zone. Not to forget his record last 8 games was the better than Sam's after facing Chelsea, United etc. Can't believe we've f***ed our season up by hiring the bloke who's supposed to be the survival expert! Anyone see the stats on MNF? We are miles WORSE under Allardyce, I didnt think it was possible for us to get worse when Pardew left; but SA has done a good job of doing just that. The trigger had to be pulled one way or another. There's no way we could have stuck with Pardew and expected things to change. So the decision had to be made. Time will tell if going with Sam was right or wrong. It certainly has f***ed our season though. Starting the season and sticking with Pards for so long is what has f***ed our season.

Edited by Mo Sizlak (19 Feb 2017 10.13am) Been supporting the club for 40 years so been through the wringer. Boards may have tried many things but never actually did them. What he did do was appoint the best manager in the clubs history and guide us to our highest ever league place. We now have American owners who seem keener to make the lights flash in time to a loud PA system than build a cohesive team on the pitch. By sold our soul I mean when I look at the team at the moment I see a disjointed band playing for the money not each other or the team. Bad run of form I can accept but looking at recent games there are some on the pitch who look like they can't be bothered and I don't like that

This is different though back then there was no expectation that we were any good, the players were pretty cheap and generally we turned up knowing we were poor. Now we have spent the best part of £100m and have supposedly the best squad ever and we are terrible. The second half of last season was one of the more depressing ever. Only me and a few others seemed concerned by the shocking form. All the rest were caught up in buying balloons
The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years |

No turning point but a lack of self-awareness by Steve P that maybe he wasn't up to the task in hand doing it all by himself. Seven managers in seven years and no real change nor progress on the infrastructure. D-

We know Parish would like a solid infrastructure in place that can weather any storm. The problem is as soon as we get a new manager in in recent years for whatever reason as soon as the manager gets settled the results start to plummet. Freedman? Left for a few pennies more off the back of an 8 game unbeaten run (which was mostly draws)

i agree with the OP. However, the sucker punch that has floored us, was , not sacking Pardew over the summer. Just after he squandered a lead in the FA cup by doing a silly dance on the sidelines. By then it was obvious that Pardew was clueless in the League and had lost it. the Blame ? whatever suit was making the decisions behind the scenes.

So much default negativity. Win v boro and a lot changes. And why shouldn't we?

Turning point will be the commanding performance against Middlesborough, breathing confidence into the team and kick starting a solid run of performances that will see us stay up.

Under Pardew it was Parish that pulled the strings on what players we bought in as Pardew had never had that responsability at Newcastle. Pardew got the final say on a player but most of them were Parish's targets. We have bought in some decent players. Personally dont blame those coming in. The biggest mistake we made was getting rid of the players that made the team a unit, Those that were great in the dressing room, the leaders and characters. Pardew should have been sacked after the cup final.
