I am in the Stevie critic camp, however we all want a real fan in charge who really cares about the club dont we? overall hes been fantastic and SOME of the criticism can be construed as sensationalism but he does not help himself, he is a media whore, of that we cannot deny so has to take the rough with the smooth. He has not learned from his mistakes like he has claimed. I would like to see him delegate, particularly recruitment and I do not think by the last windows performance Dougie is the answer. I certainly dont want Steve to leave I just think he cant be an expert at all aspects of owning a football club and needs to recognise where he is coming up short. This season has been a debacle, I just hope he does in fact learn from it. Edited by MonsterMunch (01 Mar 2018 9.38am) To my mind one of the biggest was not appointing Hodgson as soon as Allardyce resigned instead of spending a month considering options and selecting FDB. We might be in a position whereby Parish is looking for another manager for next season and we can only hope that if this is the case we don't see a re-run of events last pre-season.

Yes hopefully not. It could well be on the agenda though before taking all those holidays.

The problem is that we don't really know how the blame should be apportioned for the January debacle as for all we know Dougie had lined up the players that we needed but the failure to sign them lay elsewhere. There were some very odd dealings in the transfer window including the loan signing of Erdal Rakip whom Roy has stated is finding it difficult to break into the team as he plays in a position that we are well served in. If that is the case then why the hell have we signed him considering we don't have an option to convert the loan to a permanent deal. Likewise the Polish centre half was another odd signing as even with our desperate need for central defenders Roy prefers Calamity Delaney to our new Polish international

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but as I seem to recall when Sam walked a straw poll held here had Roy at the bottom of the list with almost no-one in favour of him becoming our manager

All we can take from the situation is that the window before was poor and the window just gone was poor, this time with Dougie and all the musings of the "best recruitment environment we've ever had" or something along those lines and still the window is hopeless. The Jach and Rakip signings do seem very curious at the very least. As you have highlighted Roys comments about Rakip are very odd. Why on earth sign him then? We were led to believe Dougie and co provide the targets and Roy makes the decision on the said player. So who is at fault with both players not being up to standard. All seems very disconnected.

The England World Cup experience wasn't good. His West Brom and Fulham days were impressive. Parish apparently had Hodgson advise him on the recruitment. Maybe some think that if Parish was so quick to turn to Hodgson after sacking Frank, wasn't Roy the answer staring him in the face the whole time? Or was it because nobody would've considered it?

Steve, along everybody concerned with our club who care about our club are working with the best interests in our club. The issues of managements appointment Steve has spoken at length in the press Apologising for his errors while reminding us how excited he and us the fans were with appointment of FDB, in regard to AP he again gone FYP and HOL radio to explain how he an AP had chosen to change Palaces' playing style. Again he admitted it didn't work. Steve has along with rest of management team and owner have produced a plan to upgrade Selhurst Park which will insure Palace have positive future despite the clubs position at the moment. Being a Palace fan isn't meant to a trail of glory hunting its about being Palace no matter what league. As I said Steve and all concerned are doing what they believe to be in the best interests of the club.

Can't blame CPFC2010 for cashing in when they had the opportunity, they had invested their own money, lived the dream of getting Palace to the prem & were probably financially unable as a consortium to really progress us much further. But we've now got a chairman who's beholden to his major investors & who seem both insistent on making decisions & less clued up than SP. I think SP is not in a happy place personally.

I didn't read SP's quote that way at all and don't believe that the Americans are making the decisions rather than facilitating things that would otherwise not have happened

I used to support Parish 100%. I commended him when he finally splashed some cash on Benteke, as it was a big step for him as a chairman. I'm baffled why so many people are crediting Parish for spending money on Benteke when he sold Bolasie to fund it. It's not like he dug deep to find the money. The PL pays us over £80m a year and the summer we signed Benteke we spent £11m net on transfers.
