Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

Keeper is the least of our problems As others have said get the defence right and we will be almost there. As for Mandanda I am not sure how anyone can make a judgement whether good or bad. De Gea took a full season to get up to speed albeit he was 19. Give the guy a chance at least.

The fact that we have been questioning Henneseys place in the starting line up for the last couple of years suggests that the keeper position is a problem. Fair enough he made a couple of saves against Everton, all were at a relatively comfortable height. I was more worried about the four balls he palmed out. If Everton had any sense about them they would have followed up on all shots.

WH was in an Italian paper's European team of the week for his performance on Saturday. We have more important positions to fill than goalkeeper (I still maintain that if Speroni wasn't here for everyone to keep comparing with WH or SM then there wouldn't be so many threads on here about this).

I think our defensive woes began when Jules got injured and Super Al stubbornly refused to reinstate him when he was fit, when it was plain to see neither McCarthy or Hennessey were as good as him. I think people forgot about the endless mistakes speroni made last season, for example spilling shots in front of sttackers on a few occasions (Southampton comes to mind immediately) and his terrible distribution st times out the team under needless pressure. Hennessy however is not the answer to this problem.

True I can't remember there being much hype about him He was referred to as the best keeper playing in the French league and Frances number 2 keeper, I would consider that hype. All I can assume is the standard in France is poor.
