How come it's taken this long to find out what the player expects in terms of wages ?

I would have thought that was discussed early in negotiations.

Anyway, not disappointed personally as I don't rate Jenkinson that much.

SA: Until the chairman rings me to say the Jenkinson deal is dead, it's still on for me. The same with Van Aanholt - we're interested.

Clearly, they would like to offload him but it doesn't necessarily mean he'll come to us. He can just sit out his contract with them.

If we ruled out every player with a greedy agent then I doubt we'd sign many players. An agent's job is to get the best deal he can for his client, if a player is on £40,000 now why wouldn't he try and get £50,000? If the club says 'No, £40,000 is as high as we'll go' then the player can decide to move, sit out his existing contract, or wait and see if a better offer comes in from elsewhere. We may not like it but I think that's how the world works.
