No New injuries; no yellow cards; a clean sheet; some key and fringe players getting a run out; getting another one on 18 jan with more injured players scheduled to return from injury next week along with possibly new signings; some cash from the replay; a good chance to progress; and for once a bit of luck on our side.

I might be getting all silver lining on you, but there are positives from today

yes, from the BBC highlights lots of positives from Remy who looked really sharpe and for someone so short of game time and likewise Jules who was outstanding for a player who gets so little chance these days. Some of the defenders looked suspect even at this level and they just do not seem to be so solid or reliable and really panic every time the ball is coming their way, , some of them are probably trying to play above the level of their competence and should be off loaded to the lower leagues. Come on Sam find us a couple of good defenders in this window!

Clean sheet that is unusual. Plus record appearance for julesa is about bloody time. Result doesn't surprise me and we could do with another practice game

The replay fits the bill perfectly.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

And Pardew had what 20+ games to figure out how to keep a clean sheet.

And you're absolutely right to believe so.

I don't think the rapid assault of games is helping him bed in. There's so little preparation time it's just reactive. The positive is at least he knows without doubt what our limitations are across a short period of time.

The concensus seems to be we lack quality, but also there seems a general lack of fight and leadership.

Hopefully he's got a recruitment plan, whether it's players and/or coaches to come in. A new Jedi would be be welcome.

Actually he's had neither. He's had four games in a very short space of time.

Today wasn't about beating a league one side, it was about looking at some of the squad players.

so we didnt take to the pitch today with the aim of winning the game?

if pardew was still in charge people would not be making such flimsy excuses thats for sure.

Jeez. If we'd won today I doubt that would have been enough for some round here.

I saw a team full of confidence at the top of their game have a good go at one that is the polar opposite. We didn't get beat despite that and the obvious lack of quality in the side today so that's a start. It's a small step but at least it's in the right direction.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

Lack of quality in midfield was very disappointing. Mutch was abysmal, absolutely shocking. Summed up in the last minute, gets the ball in centre 25 yards from goal. Rather than dropping a shoulder and getting off a shot he turned around and passed backwards.
Cabeye is a waste of space and we need someone else taking set pieces please

Remy was encouraging but I also thought Campbell was ok in 1st half. Our attacking play went AWOL without remy. Lee is no striker and even in midfield just flatters to deceive.

Fat Sam looked a bit clueless on the sidelines.
