Palace now officially 'dodgy'.

'relaxed' about 'Big Sam' and further disciplinary hearings.

Hmm, 'lost' our integrity eh?

In my time the managers we have had include:

Malcolm Allison - womanising and alcoholism
Terry Venables - 'investigated for fraud'
Dario Gradi - implicated in covering up paedophilia
Alan Mullery - between him and Venables generated a very nasty atmosphere and huge bitterness
Tony Pulis - found to be a liar and a cheat and given a huge fine on top of damages
Alan Pardew - womaniser and gambler

It would be lovely to have someone with real integrity as a manager right now but I can't say we have 'lost' it.

Foolishly I thought Dowie was going to be the one, then I believed in Dougie. Even those that appear upright let us down. Better just live in the real world then.

He is the first chairman to maintain Crystal Palace's premier league status, and consistently too. Palace had no divine right to be in this league with the constraints we had/have. Now, with the squad we have assembled, I believe we should expect to be here, but that is thanks to Parish and the board.

Pulis was his best manager and he walked out as the season was starting, taking his bonus with him, and yet he saved us from certain relegation. Holloway was out of his depth, and yet he got us in to the premier league. Warnock was a stopgap, who had done really well for us in the past and many faithful Palace fans remember his first spell with fondness (Moses, Clyne, Ambrose). Pardew was very successful in his first season and getting us to the FA cup final. The new philosophy has not worked for him, and I think Parish gave him a good amount of time to sort it out.

Overall, Parish has been an exceptional chairman. I hope we have him for many more years. Suggesting Parish is not good enough by merely stating how many managerial changes he has had is reductionist and literally pointless. Your argument has no content to back it up. In fact, it is borderline trolling.

I read your post with due respect up until that last histrionic reaction. Daft response that.

As for the first highlighted line, who suggested Parish wasn't good enough in the broader sense which is what you are talking about? I didn't.

I specifically focussed on the amount of managers we have had under his tenure which I categorically don't see a positive thing to praise him for. He even tried to appoint Malky MacKay too.

You may think otherwise. But no need to dramatise and embellish to try and prove your point. Stick to the point raised.

I am a bit surprised with some people's high moral stance big Sam was always going to get a perm job, I see it's our gain and the whole world game is built on money and as we all know where there's money impropriety is close behind, the news papers are far from whiter than white so we can go with it or be left behind no time for a moral stance. I am a bit suspicious when people join the hol just to rip into the Palace and stir things up, but as we all are very aware you can't please all the people all of the time.

Might look quite 70s with a perm. Must be Christmas I am on the beer again.

For Sam we should have kept Pardew for the money it cost. Anyway 2 1/2 year deal.....will probably be banned by the end of the season. Bet he is rubbing his greedy hands together at the prospect of a transfer window.
I do believe after the Mackie/Moody moral standing we should have done the same here but do get what people say about Pardew. Footballs about about money now. Principles and morals have gone. At least Pardew made out he cared and you know what.... I believe he did

When was professional football ever about principles and morals then? Its always been about the money. To say othetwise is naive in the extreme. Until the '60s the players were effectively slaves of the clubs and until Hillsborough the fans were treated like cattle.

I ask you to back up your 'he is good at managerial appointments is Parish' too.

He has sacked three of them so far and two have walked out on him. In five years.

Go for it.

Get it right - 3 walked out on him - Dougie, Ollie and Pullis. Warnock was always only short term helping out after Pullis did the dirty so sack was inevitable and now he has sacked AP with a very nice $3 mill payoff but only after backing him more than ever deserved.

Yep and then add Burley and so very nearly Malky Mackay to that list then it is pretty clear that managerial appointments are not Steve's strongest point.

Little of anything more like

I didn't mind him gambling as long as it was with his money and not with our points. Oh, and as long as he wasn't betting on football matches of course.

Pulis was great until the end of the season and SP couldn't have foreseen that he would screw us over by f****** off two days before a season started. He may be lacking in integrity but that doesn't mean that by appointing him we were.

At least in the case of Allardyce everyone knows what happened and you can take an informed view of the risks. Personally I think having your manager investigated for something he's basically already been punished and apologised for is a lesser risk than getting relegated and having the arse fall out of your team, and what Pulis did was many times worse because it was vindictive and calculated to hurt us directly.
