Just what I hoped for but expecting another defeat.
Clean sheet, big win, let's hope this gives the lads confidence to go on a winning streak.

Three points - and a clean sheet!
Cross that off my Christmas present list then.

Same again at Hull and my Christmas will be complete!

Now don't let the guys relax Pardew, don't brag about a top ten finish, and don't get beat 5-4 at Hull.

I'm just as happy about the clean sheet as much as the win. Good disciplined performance all round but particularly from the back four. Keep it up boys.

We need to follow that result up with a win against Hull. Otherwise, it's an isolated result in a sea of s***e.

..with the ball running at the enemy, he is pure class, defending was much tougher with the blocks of old, even Fonte's great opportunity would have been blocked I'm convinced and Delaney is without any doubt the best at defending attempts at goal, he frustrated the tits off them.

Mr Pardew deserved all that luck today.

I predict a 3-0 win.
I have faith in Pards.

Yes agree, but this is a good base to build upon but we still need more! however likewise I'm happy to eat my words if this can be repeated next week, proves we can defend when we have to, so hopefully this will be a step in the right direction, well done team and AP!

Well now I still think our ball retention in the midfield was quite sloppy and Southampton had us under pressure and quite deep sometimes at 2 - 0. They had a couple of decent chances then and if they'd converted one it would have been squeaky bum time. But the defensive performance was a transformation from last week, when it was an utter shambles, and once we'd weathered that storm by about 75 minutes we were bossing them about.

Next lesson: keeping the ball.

..no not really is it, if you actually look at our play and attacking and then the silly individual mistakes then yes you're right the mistakes have been a sea of s***, but the majority of Mr Pardews players have all played well and tried in every game to get a result, how posters cannot see this is baffling.
