Great passer when on the ball and can shoot but for me he has no pace and our central midfielders are all lacking in pace so i can't really see he is going to improve our squad relative to his likely high cost in wages.
On flip side anyone remember Dave Madden. Similar player in many ways and did a great job passing ball up to Wright and Bright. Perhaps he is the player we need to feed Zaha and Bolaise?

The problem with Shelvy is that he plays to the standard that the team is playing to. When a team is on fire he looks like an international player, when not he's anonymous. Very expensive luxury.

It was on one of the twitter feeds I follow. They seem to have around a 50/50 success rate with the exclusives they publish so there may something in it, there may not. Just thought I would pass it on.

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye!

His quality is in his passing - he is an excellent passer of a ball.Imaginative mind and excellent vision. Also he has the ability to score goals from distances - practices a lot of these in training and has this in his locker.A couple of years ago he was picking up a lot of 'Cheap' bookings for kicking the ball away etc and Garry Monk said he would have to learn from this.Earlier this year it was felt he needed to add consistency to his game. Can play in midfield or just behind the striker.
I recall seeing a young Shelvey playing for England Schoolboys when he was on the books of Charlton.

It's fine having a decent passer of the ball if the rest of the team anticipate the passes. I've seen Cabaye and Adebayor make 'clever' passes at times and no one has anticipated the ball properly.

Henry Irving agrees with you as he wrote something identical in 2009 [Link]

I supposed I will now be accused of being Henry Irving.

Wonder if Henry saw Jonjo's brother George play for Barking like I have ?

Nah, just plagiarism. Again.

According Jonjo, George was the better footballer but his partying lifestyle let him down.

Never read that piece by Henry Irving.
I hear lots about players from various sources and I also have eyes you know !
I see Shelvey as a good passer of the ball, good vision and the ability to score from distance.I have seen him player a number of times, I don't need to read articles to tell me about his qualities.
