Surely he wouldn't be speaking to the press about a move - Looks to me he's trying to get other parties interested. Can you really see someone like Cabaye, coming to us without European football? I'd love to see it happen I really would. But seriously doubt it, and feel it's a story his agent has released and is believable to members because of the Pardew link.

Skybet: 8/11 PSG 2/1 Arsenal 9/2 Palace. We've gone out in the betting from 5/2, know a big Gunners fan, they want him to be an upgrade on Coquelin. Lot of comp in the middle - Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere, Flamini etc, but I think Cabaye could get the game time he wants at Arsenal - if Wenger seriously wants him then we'd be more like 100/1, hopefully Arsene's judgement will be as good as it was over Fabregas.
Edited by Lyons550 (10 Jun 2015 12.33pm) He's not an AMC. Never seen him there for Newcastle or for France. He usually plays alongside a tough combative midfielder in a DM / pirlo type role and is given license to roam around a bit. Agreed this is different from being an attacking midfielder but he's still no replacement for Coquelin

How much we reckon he will be on at PSG? Believe he was on 40K a week already at Newcastle so imagine around the 100 k a week mark. Its not only a question of being able to afford it but also of keeping balance in the squad. I know there is massive TV money on its way but doubt this would be realistic. Having said that: brilliant signing it would be! think i saw around 80/week. if memory serves, chamakh is our highest paid at around 40.

To be fair, I'd agree with you a few years ago, but the game today is a whole different beast than it was 3 years ago. Look at Julio Cesar- the brazilian goal-keeper who moved to QPR, yes the money was good but it was always going to be a relegation scrap. He could've easily been given European football, seem to remember Arsenal, Manchester United and a host of other European clubs were in for him. I'd say now we could probably offer similar wages as QPR back then and we are also very unlikely to be a relegation scrap next season and the general perception of us is we will be looking to improve upon the top 10 finish this season.

I would love this one to come off but the way it's been being reported sounds like either the player or the agent are setting up their fishing rod for the summer. I agree we are a more attractive prospect with the progress we have made over the past 2 seasons but history has told us if we have a player who will make a decision based upon the highest wage he wont be wearing red and blue stripes next year.
