To say that "we" rape, torture and kill asylum seekers is one of the stupidest posts I have ever read. "we" put some of them in detention centres while they're processed. They're housed and fed and the bullying, I dare say, is from other asylum seekers.
The fact is that 'we' know from these journalistic enquiries (which I do recommend reading - they are very eye-opening) that abuse is rife within detention centres, particularly for women and the LGBT community, who make up a fairly sizeable proportion of asylum seekers. There have been enquiries in to the running of these detention centres and changes have been made, so fewer children are kept indefinitely, but because the companies running the detention centres are private and non-accountable, they haven't got the obligation to be as transparent as a public institution, and the number of these places is only increasing. Day to day life is clearly hellish, hence the large accounts of suicide, and the fast-track justice service given to these people isn't doing the job. Also considering you are keen for me to show my evidence, where's your evidence for your last claim? If I didn't suspect better I'd guess you'd just pulled it out of your arse...
Its group of minorities, that whilst different, have often been associated togeather in order to exert influence through shared experience of discrimination due to sexual orientation. Its not really a community though, thats the interwebs talking, generally the association of LGBT groups is by political necessity and influence. Sometimes termed the Rainbow Alliance.
In the same way any group of people, affiliated for political influence don't exist. In that way its as real as anything else.

Often referred to as community by members of this group. Heard Milliband refer to the international community earlier. Is he being' right on'?
I have concern for others. I don't have concern for an imaginary group and think those who do are bonkers. Its as real as any community or group, as long as individuals affiliate, then it exists. All groups are imaginary constructs based on ideas of affiliation or differences. Realistically community and groups are social abstracts constructed for convenience of cerebral processing and self identification. So by saying you don't believe such a thing is real you are socially positioning yourself in opposition to the idea of such a group, as clearly it exists if people are referring to it.

For once just man up and admit you are wrong and move on. People won't think any worse of you for it. Didn't Jamie say one page ago that's 'it's not a real community'? That's what I was basing my thoughts on. Check for yourself big man. That's what was said. No one would think any worse of you if you agreed with the above.
A group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common: From
Yes or no? Not really, I said its a political construct of people around Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgendered social politics and issues. It exists if people believe it exists and identify (positively or negatively to it), because like any community its a form of self identification and social action, rather than a 'real material thing'.
