I'm surprised people don't think Austin's price would £15m. He's English, has scored 20 goals in the Premier league and got a called up to the England squad. He's going to be priced at around 15m. We are pricing Gayle at 10m, Bolasie at over 20m.
People seem to rate our players sky high but anybody else is over-valued.

These are all speculative prices. We quote 20 million for Bolasie because it's means we'd take 15 (and most of us know that's about what he's worth). We quote 10 million for Gayle because it leaves negotiating room to get to the roughly 5-6 we'd probably sell him for. QPR quote 15 for Austin because he's worth 10-12. If you want to cash in on an asset, you talk up the price first.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 If anyone is interested in Austin's current contract with QPR: Austin seems a smart lad and we are honestly his best career option. If QPR kepp fannying about on the money side, we might have to wait until the 1st.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 For me personally, I think Charlie Austin should be our #1 transfer target. He is a natutral goalscorer who got near on 20 goals in the side that finished bottom. He reminds me of Andy Johnson from 2004/05 in that respect and we thought he was great. £15m is a bit of money of course but that's what the going rate is now. He has proved he can do it at Premier League level in a poor side. Imagine what he could do with the service on offer at Palace. I think he is better than Danny Ings and he has gone to Liverpool. I'd be over the moon if we were able to get Austin, I really would!

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 In a world where Sterling is worth up to £50 million to the right club, £15 million for Austin seems about right. Scores goals in a bad team last year, has the right attributes, is young enough that he can still grow as a player, is English and is already in London. I rather take Austin over Remy ('s wages) and Ba, personally. If QPR want £15 million, offer £10-12 plus add ons. If AP wants him, for that money, I'd be going straight in and setting things in motion. With a better team around in, and the service and space that allows, he will score 15-20 a season. No brainer in my eyes.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Charlie Austin (rumour)' by james03 Sometimes in life (and football) nearly all the pieces come together at the same time. He wants regular football in the Premiership and to stay in London. We want a 15+ goal a season lone striker who has proved he can do it at this level. Only other option for him are West Ham but they look to be flashing the cash around with a new manager. Can he be guaranteed first team football there with the likes of Carroll and Valencia? Right sort of striker, right experience, right attitude/work rate at the right time at around the right price. We would be fools to pass this opportunity up, maybe we just need to make that extra stretch to secure the wages and make him feel really wanted. Us landing Austin sends a very clear messege to the premiership and the other `fringe` players at other clubs we may be looking at, players take up and notice such things.
