Codswallop. The NHS is a failing public institution that people are in general are fed up with being basically a bit rubbish the reasons why are many and varied mainly becuase they are undervalued by ALL the Governments over the last decade.

Jeremy Clarkson is an entertainer on a popular Motoring show, to draw parity between the two is redonculous in the extrem.

Why would the public sign an NHS petition ? it's going to achieve fcuk all, thats a sad fact but a true one.

I sort of agree with your last two points, but where did you pull that one from? Surely the NHS, of all public assets, is the one most valued by the majority of the public. Also how would you judge it as 'failing'? It's incredibly cost efficient in contrast to most health institutions, and does a far greater public service than, say, our energy institutions, our financial institutions etc etc etc.

The latest is that the guy had to go to hospital and was bleeding after being punched in the mouth. I guess that's easily verifiable. Clarkson's also said to have been drunk at the time, calling the guy a “lazy, Irish c***” after not getting his hot food. The investigation will clear that up one way or the other since a lot of people were around at the time. Not exactly looking good for him.

Getting rid of Clarkson means losing Top Gear, which would be the BBC self harming itself.

The BBC is too full of professionally offended lefties who sometimes forget where their bread is buttered.

I'll be amazed if Clarkson goes. It would just be giving fuel to the BBC's critics who are ever eager to destroy the license fee.

They would point at the BBC leadership and say.....'Look at this bunch of muppets, they take off their highest money producing programme due to social politics......Why are we giving these people the highest public televisual budget in the world...By far'.

I can't see the BBC being that stupid.

Hardly social politics, if JC hit the producer then its assault and gross misconduct

At any other company it would be dismissal so why not at the BBC?

Because a large number of license fee payers are prepared to support him continuing that's why.

The BBC is a company paid for by the public. If those playing social politics forget where their bread is buttered then I regard them as damaging and exposing to risk......One of the most important publicly funded institutions in the world.

There are plenty of anti BBC sharks waiting for a short sighted decision like this. It'll be another argument they can use when the time comes.

Like I say, I can't see the BBC being this stupid.

How are we to describe those professionally offended by Russell Brand's silliness? That got even more front pages than this. Granted he doesn't bring as much money in, but if we only judge our morality by that, it's a sorry state.

I'm no fan of the BBC (in fact I disagree completely with the licence fee), but if he's punched a producer in the face because he couldn't have steak then I can't see how he can keep his job.

It's madness really. It sends out a warped message when we have hundreds of thousands of people signing messages of support to someone who sent a guy to hospital and the guy with the bloodied face gets further harassed and threatened online.
