I strongly believe that MPs and ministers convicted of serious crimes, such as cover ups etc should face charges on a par with treason.

Irrespective of their political party - and they should be banned from ever serving in any public office or public facing office in the future.

It might well be that the Security Services saw providing 'an outlet' they controlled, as a means of protecting the establishment, as well as a means of controlling elements within it.
