Rip big Mal. What an absolute legend of man. Just reading about him conjures up images about what legend he is. Somehow I just think that it doesn't do him justice.

The best salute is that we all endeavour to achieve what BM did at Selhurst. If we think we're in the doldrums now, imagine what it was like after two successive relegations.

My old man speaks highly of taking 'thousands' away to random matches in div 3, and genuinely believing Palace were one of the greatest teams in the land.

I don't think it's a push to say that BM's legacy at Palace is that we still get 15000 every week, and we've bounced around in the top two legaues for nigh on 40 years. Plenty of clubs in London could, but cannot, claim the same.

Fantastic days, despite being successive relegations and spending 3 seasons in the old div 3. Some of my fondest Palace memories come from the Big Mal era. Who can forget Swindle's header at Elland Road, Whittle's winner at Roker and Peter Taylor's magic against Chelsea. What a true character Malcolm Allison was with those cigars, sheepkskin coat and that famous fedora! RIP Big Mal

Who else could oversee two consecutive relegations, fail to get us out of the Third Division and still be loved, admired and respected by the fans?

I am proud to be a suppporter of a club Mal managed.

I am not one for usually posting on sites, but memories of Malcolm really do tug.

A great man who transformed our team in the 70's

We will all remember the Fedora and the cup run that followed.. games against Scarborough (and Neil Warnock as their manager!), Leeds, Sunderland, Chelsea.

Coming back from Sunderland on the Charter Train in the Dining car, Mal bought every table a bottle of Champagne. I still have the label from ours signed by him.

Met him again in the 90's, when times were tough for him, I gave him one of his favourite cigars and mention the champagne, the old bugger gave me a hug!

Anyhow.. even finding this tough to write and I am 56 for gods sake!

God bless Mal.. The next Heaven XI will be some team.

Read on the BBC website yesterday about what he'd achieved at Man City from 1966 - 1970. Unbelievable. Promotion from 2nd Div, 1st Division Championship, League Cup and Cup Winners Cup. We were lucky to have him.

One of the first great thinkers and innovative coaches of his time. The first big personality in football. He realised football was an entertainment, and his style put bums on seats and got people through the turnstiles. His image and flamboyance will always be remembered, but his contribution to the way football is played today, should not be undervalued. A very sad and tragic end, and I, for one, hope he finally has some peace. He leaves behind some wonderfull memories. Thankyou Mal.

"Were there any particular areas, Gordon, where you felt you were outplayed today?"
"Yeah, that big green area just at the end of the players tunnel"
