Why not? Imagine a 95% ethnically Jewish Israel. It will import workers to do the manual labour from places such as Thailand and India. There is no external pan Arab threat as there was in the 60's and 70's along with Israel having nuclear weapons.

The Palastinian people will be scattered all over with no base from which to plan a return and within a generation or two, effetively absorbed into whichever poor b******s are lumbered with them.

The Israel lobby already has a vastly disproportionate impact on global politics and is managing to effectively keep any oppostion to what it is doing firmly in check hence western leaders falling over themselves to excuse what is going on.

This is no conspiracy theory. This is the only rational way of understanding this.

And the question again. Do you want Europe to pay the price for this?

Yes, I think this is general Israeli policy. You'd have to believe words rather than actions to think otherwise.

It isn't the policy of the left in Israel, which is basically the same as America's two state solution policy (the broadly correct meme being that Jews are right wing in Israel and left wing aboard).

I wouldn't say they are aiming for 95 percent but they certainly won't let it drop below 75....The Jews just aren't that stupid.

Regardless, the left in Israel have been a weakening force for decades and anyone seriously looking at this knows that in practical terms the two state solution died with Rabin's assassination.

They suffer the same first world problems of feminism reducing birth rates and aging populations reducing the work force and increasing welfare. However, like the Japanese they will find solutions (automation, guest workers) around this.

The main threat to Israel comes from the fact that it's surrounded by Arabs, who will all eventually have the same nuclear and advanced weaponry tech they have.....and while Arab politicians can be bribed to keep the peace their populations....Well, let's just say that Borat was an understatement.

All your conspiracy theory would achieve is an expansion of land but no more security for Israel.

Given the political colour of the ruling coalition in Israel right now, I would be astonished if may of those who wield the power do not believe precisely this.

Whether it is stated policy or not is another thing.

And the purpose would be to ensure there is no conflict from within an expanded Israel. They are long resigned to the threat of conflict from without.

I considered putting this into the cringe thread but I don't like to overtly make humour threads political. I see political humour, which can be great, but as its own distinct form. Whereas generalised humour can be for everybody.

So I'll put this here...Bono being Bono....which, whether someone agrees with whatever politics he's pushing....is extremely cringe.

The original song is great though.

Bono is beyond words in terms of cringe and self importance. he is the Wisbech Eagle of the music industry

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Indeed, he's like Billy Bragg but with good songs.

Ceasefire plan under discussion
[Link]
"Hamas says it has given its response to a framework proposal for a new ceasefire in Gaza.

The details of the deal - set out by Israel, the US, Qatar and Egypt - have not been released.
It was earlier reported to include a six-week truce, when more Israeli hostages would be exchanged for Palestinian prisoners.
Israel and the US have both said they are reviewing Hamas's response.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is currently in the Middle East, said he would discuss Hamas's response with officials in Israel on Wednesday." (BBC website)

Starving Palestinians now eating pet food
"People living in the isolated north of Gaza have told the BBC that children are going without food for days, as aid convoys are increasingly denied permits to enter. Some residents have resorted to grinding animal feed into flour to survive, but even stocks of those grains are now dwindling, they say." (BBC)

Aid still being denied. The inhumanity,...

Agreed.

What was it that Elon Musk said, something about leaders only caring about how they presented themselves rather than the evil they do.

We all know what Israel is doing and it's not morally defensible in human terms. The same as what Hamas did was disgusting and bound to start a war.

However, Israel are surrounded by Arab countries....at the end of the day these are their people.

Why are we always expected to stick our nose in.

You only get treated as the bad guy anyway.

But regardless, I think what the Americans and we have tacitly supported is shameful. Our ships should never have gone.

We should not be involved.

Yanks get out of the Middle East, and just about everywhere else.

Have a long period of insularity, civil war or whatever.

Let the world recover, or mess itself up.

It can't do worse than you are doing.

Yes, let's give those nice Chinese and Russians a go at running things, or perhaps Iran.

I just have this feeling that endorsing /supplying arms to Israel and denying aid to the Palestinians, is going to come back and bite the USA and UK on the backside.
I can see terror groups mobilising to Europe, in fact some of them might already be here. And we'll be counting civilian deaths of our own.
Finding our own populations supressed by terror groups,....it's just how Orwell predicted.
