Schlupp and van Aanholt were bought to bring balance to a side lacking in left sided players and legs / speed. Without them coming in we'd have been relegated last season. Agree that they've been disappointing this season but think van Aanholt is ok as an orthodox left back rather than wing back. Schlupp looked like a former forward being asked to play left back yesterday. Where was Riedewald yesterday, as he can play left back?

Can't blame WH for that. No way he could catch that - if he'd tried and then spilled it they'd have scored. Midfield were asleep for the rebound and Ward should have done better on the line. Different story last night though:
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

Different story last night though: The words 'clutching' and 'straws' spring to mind. So your hero made a save - isn't that what he's supposed to do? If Sakho had been playing all season I dare say WH would have a few clean sheets to his name.

Let's be honest Puncheon hasn't exactly been picked for ability and There isn't a lot between Speroni and Hennessy and there should be. One is 38 and the other is 30. You describe Speroni as past it, well with all due respect Hennessy should be "on it". He should be in his prime and if this is his prime then he isn't good enough. He also seems to spend his entire game worrying about getting hurt.

Even if he is getting on a bit he's probably still better than some less gifted players who are younger. Even if Speroni is second choice it's far from clear that he's lost it.

I suppose the question is that despite some of Hennessey's sometimes less than top notch performances, has he really done that badly overall to justify the recall of 38 year old Speroni who has hardly played in recent seasons ? We all remember the Speroni of old but he also had his flaws and with the advancement of age he is probably not the keeper he was, that's not to say he is "Over the hill" etc etc.We have had a succession of managers and they have favoured Hennessey over Speroni. Yes I agree. I expect him to start the game at the weekend. "The managers' thinking". Two matches. WH as incumbent played in one and JS in another. Competition of places only really has a point if you change personnel occasionally. JS has every right to play a league game or two. On Saturday very few would place money on CP getting a point. So why not play JS then? Not exactly a massive gamble......... and who knows. As far as age is concerned Seaman, Shilton and others still played top flight football at JS's age!
Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time! |

But that is not the point. Even Banks was not immune to a howler or two!
