The vast majority of the posts here are about the rioting that has followed the original crimes. Rioting that most people, including our politicians and all the media have condemned. That’s no distraction. It might have been better in a separate thread, but that’s different. It’s a very important subject. That there are threats from other stupid people doesn’t justify these people being stupid, They achieve nothing positive at all. Were you suggesting the Austria incident was just a threat from stupid people? If so, I think finding elements to make a dirty bomb, to use at a concert primarily attended by young girls, is more than just a threat by stupid people

I’m sorry to have to embarrass you YT but WE himself has provided numerous unevidenced posts detailing exactly what a great human being he is and nothing at all like a narcissist. You may therefore want to rethink your accusation

These are obvious truths you speak. It should be like a bucket of ice water over Mr Wisbechs face. However, pride before a fall.

It was the same in Dublin last November. A load of young kids stabbed by an Algerian man. A man previously caught carrying a knife & vandalising vehicles. Let off , to walk the streets and stab again and again. Similar to the Southport stabber having some previous, but let off. The government went nuts at the rioters. For having the temerity to riot.

There have been several events today that I believe need to be discussed, but don’t seem to have been. Firstly, there were some counter protesters among those sentenced today. The Judge told them that it didn’t matter what their cause was, what the colour of their skin was or what their religion was, if they used violence they would be punished. He also said that sentencing contained two elements. Punishment and deterrence. So much for two tier justice! Secondly, the first sentences were given today for online incitement, with the Judge warning that anyone doing so was as legally culpable as those committing the rioting. These were very local to the events, obvious and easy to prove. The big fish have not yet been charged and will doubtless prove a much harder challenge. Especially if they use false identities, live abroad or the platforms refuse to cooperate or, even, involve the owner of the platform. Whilst I have not seen anything here that comes close to being comparable it ought to serve as a warning. There are some hotheads around! Whilst direct incitement is obvious, indirect incitement via defence of illegal activity and identification of types of potential targets may not be. Thirdly, and probably most importantly my wife has returned home this evening from work with the news that all the international staff at the hospital have been warned by the Trust not to go into Truro city centre tomorrow as there are rumours of intended trouble. What a situation! Hard working, much needed and appreciated people being warned not to enter their local shopping and recreation area because of the fear of them being targeted because they weren’t born here. Most are highly skilled professionals who are in demand from many other countries, where they can often enjoy higher wages and a better lifestyle. Recruiting and retaining them is hard enough but this will make it even harder. Some are already talking of leaving. No doubt some here would welcome that, but I doubt they would welcome even longer waiting lists in a few months time. For that will be the result. I wonder if we will ever see the headline “Yobs destroy the NHS”? But we should. On top is the impact on tourism and local businesses. I have already seen people questioning whether it’s safe to travel. Yet some still say this is just legitimate protesting. It’s not. It’s disgusting, mindless yobbery.

How stupid is another question. Nothing like that is sensible. I have no more time for those who plan mass murder than anyone else but it doesn’t mean that rioting gets a free pass because someone else is planning something much worse.

It wasn’t me who diverted the thread and I have already acknowledged it ought to have its own but, for the moment at least, this is where the riots are being discussed. If you don’t want to acknowledge the points I made and therefore to avoid the implications fine. That’s your choice. They won’t go away though.
