Useless Eustace makes it clear he is tearing his hair out at the way trade deals have been rushed through in desperation to the massive detriment of UK farmers. Remember Liz Truss’s embarrassing pork markets video. Well, take a look at the UK industry now. Farmers are losing £25 per pig. Needless to say that isn’t a sustainable business. I don't have a problem with importing cheap food however as a counter balance I would like our farmers to compete on quality and animal welfare. The consumer can then make the choice, buy British with higher standards or go low but our farmers who switch will need financial help. Anyway if Boris doesn't do it then perhaps Labour will if they ever get in.

UK farmers will be driven into a small niche whilst low cost, low welfare high methane countries benefit. Edited by Mapletree (23 Feb 2022 10.22am)

People are just to find out what globalism and increasing population means. We have screwed ourselves by becoming far too over reliant on imports from unreliable sources. The cost of services and trades have gone up far quicker than inflation because many have more disposable income to spend. It's all relative.

Totally agree with your last sentence on wasteful spending by people can't afford it and get into the debt spiral
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

The brexit opportunity has arrived, stop your searching. It is the ability, provided by brexit, to eat cheap unhealthy imported food from countries where animals are reared by foul farming practices. EU consumers however will be eating safe healthy food meeting their high quality standards.

So as predicted ex Speaker John Bercow has been banned for life from Parliament after an independent investigation found he was a serial bully and liar, no surprise to anyone who came into his orbit. Contrast his behaviour with our current speaker who is firm but fair telling off Boris one minute and Starmer the next. The Labour party and others should hang their heads in shame. These allegations were well known by 2018 and yet Labour and other opposition parties plus Tory Remainers decided to keep him in his job. If you look at today's papers they are littered with comments from Senior Labour party members at the time brushing off these allegations so much for sticking up for the the sisterhood Emily Thornberry and Margaret Beckett. I know the Tories hated him because of perceived bias but this odious little man could and was eventually replaced by someone decent it didn't have to be a Brexiteer. To make matters worse Labour allowed him to join their party after he stood down by which time the investigation was well under way, they could have told him he would have to wait. However belatedly they have now suspended him. A bad show all around.

Looks like the EU is finally realising that the one size fits all model may not be the best place to go. Macron is suggesting an outer group with the UK invited. Of course there is no detail at this stage but if he means a free trade bloc and the UK free to make its own decisions on matters not relating to the EU I am willing to listen. The devil as they say is in the detail.
