The upstarts in Devon have had the temerity to try to make their own and even enter them in the Pasty World Championships. It's almost as offensive as Brighton thinking they have a football team which belongs on the same pitch as Palace. We had a bowls team from Exmouth visit us who were really nervous when it came to eating their cream tea after the match in case they offended some of the locals by putting the cream on first!

There was a similar incident in The Warriors.

I expect this made the front pages of the local paper and counselling required for people at the scene. What will happen when real mistakes in Britain land in Truro?

This summer the G7 will be meeting in Cornwall. I bet the locals will really look forward to that. All those politicians and journalists extra police and of course the demonstrators and counter demonstrators etc. Couldn't happen to a nicer country

Hopefully he gets Antifa down there in significant numbers. I should imagine the nice areas in Cornwall won't be happy to see Antifa looking at them. I have sympathy for most, but not for some perhaps. It'll be interesting.. Here's a link to their Cornwall Facebook page. Edited by Stirlingsays (17 Jan 2021 12.26pm)

I guess the delegates will arrive at Newquay airport, which has a huge runway and transfer via helicopter to the resort. I doubt whether any of them will be seen by any of us. No doubt there will be some journalists invited to do interviews but I suspect they will all be inside the complex, which is quite large. Who knows whether there will be demonstrations but should there be I cannot imagine them affecting normal life here too much. There is only one main artery into Cornwall and it's easy for the Police to monitor and direct those who might want to take part. We'll see. The local reaction has been one of pride and that this event will give the area even more than the huge amount we seem to be getting at the moment.

Edited by Stirlingsays (17 Jan 2021 12.26pm) I had no idea that a local anti-fascist group existed in Penzance. Good to know. I don't though suppose it has more than a handful of members as fascism is not really evident here. You encounter the odd nutcase but it's a rarity. Their aims seem pretty benign and their activity not much to do with fascism, judging by the recent comments. "against fascism, racism, and right wing extremism in Kernow. Non-sectarian, pro devolution. What's not to like about that? Provided they keep to those aims and make their points peacefully most folk here would support them of that I am quite sure.

It's all just a tongue in the cheek pretence of rivalry to keep the tourists amused. What "real mistakes" do you anticipate landing in Truro? Are you planning a holiday here by any chance?

Here's hoping Antifa come to Cornwall in significant numbers and you all have a nice 'one nation conservative' picnic or something. All I want is for people to live their principles, so I fully support Antifa coming to Truro and for all the love and peace to be visited upon your goodself.
