I think there is as much chance of a new signing doing a bad job. I would rather coach benteke back up to speed knowing we could go back to a proven wilf, andros plan B if it goes bad until January transfers

I would say that Wilf/Andros is plan A now. Wilf is learning the position fast and is becoming a Johnny on the spot with his movement in the box which is Bentekes big failing.

Plan B is a 4-3-3 with Benteke, Wickham or Sorloth as the target man, which is their strength. The club needs to add another mobile forward to back-up Wilf and Andros.

I honestly think his all round game has come on massively in the last 6 months - get him scoring again & we have a serious goal threat in the squad.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

I am pleasantly surprised to see so many on her thinking we should stick with Tekkers. I agree. There is no doubt he has had a poor season but I do not think it is worth taking a massive financial loss on him if we sold him now (if there are even any takers for his services) and then you have to think who could we replace him with and at what price? He can do a job for us, 15 in his first season and he offers an alternative way to play than what we have played in the last few games, which maybe especially useful when we play better teams in the league. Seem to remember him bossing Arsenals back line a while back.

Count me in the keepers. Allowing up to two assists per goal, he has contributed 9 this year. His previous best ever in season was a measly 4 Hopefully, the barren spell has made him more aware of other players even when(if) his scoring touch returns

He has been a proven goal scorer in the past which means he can be in the future. If he wants to play for us then we should keep him . He contributes to team play and the goals will come. Keep him.

As has been said, we do tend to score when he’s on the pitch - even if Teckers himself isn’t the one blasting them home. If he can find his mojo (and with it, the back of the net) then just imagine what we can achieve next season. So I too hope he stays and that Roy restores his confidence.

The guy has failed miserably and has proved he is ineffective to the team this season. Despite best efforts to justify his assists and work rate, he has clearly missed sitters repeatedly that a pensioner could even bang in. He blames poor passing or simply grimaces that he was this "" close, way to often. Stop kidding yourself that he will ever gain some kind of form next season, he has to go end of. No counselling, Zen farm or meditation is going to get that boy scoring again. Roy has even given up on him by chucking a midfielder up front, who (with the team) has simply rocked it and kept us up in the PL...fact. Proof is in the pudding, look at our run with and without him, its like night and day..sorry tekkers you got to go.

Mods, please bring in a rule that where posters use idioms or proverbs then they use them correctly, unless irony is being employed of course.
