And so it proved. It would have done if the midfielders had been doing what they are supposed to do instead of ball watching (like a bunch of 12 year olds).

The defenders should drop back, the defensive/whatever you want to call them, midfielders shouldn't, there is no need. This should be taught in Year 1 Defending Class. Where else could he have palmed it out to? Before you say he could have caught it, he really couldn't as he was being challenged (by Shane Long) and he took it away from the challenge, to palm it was the only option. Edited by johnno42000 (17 Sep 2017 9.53am) I'm not heaping blame on Hennessey for the reasons mentioned.

It wouldn't have fallen "Perfectly" to Davis if Cabaye hadn't allowed him to run past him.Davis was afforded lots of room in the penalty area. To think we paid nearly £20 Mill (Excluding add-ons) for Schlupp and PVA neither of whom have really impressed since their arrival. Edited by Willo (17 Sep 2017 10.35am)

Edited by Willo (17 Sep 2017 10.35am) If Schlupp stopped Tadic or at least held him up. Ward and Schlupp get beaten far too easily on a regular basis.

What IS Schlupp ? A nothing type of player, certainly not a first team starter, squad player that can fill in off the bench at best. See Leicester record.

The players you mention came into a struggling side and it is continuing to struggle. They have never had the luxury of showing their skills in a team full of confidence and relaxed. It would be nice to see these players without the shackles on, but sadly it isn't the Palace way right now.

I get the impression that Sam wanted PvA but Sunderland didn't want to sell him so we went for Schlupp instead although Robbie Brady was an alternative at the time. The real steal seems to be Kieran Gibbs who West Brom bought at half what we paid for either of our pair

Schlupp and van Aanholt were bought to bring balance to a side lacking in left sided players and legs / speed. Without them coming in we'd have been relegated last season. Agree that they've been disappointing this season but think van Aanholt is ok as an orthodox left back rather than wing back. Schlupp looked like a former forward being asked to play left back yesterday.
