Guys I can only share what I am told, I am still being told that Lampard will be the new manager however Nuno coming available has opened up further discussions as the club would favour Nuno. (But was not originally available) I am now told that Lampard was offered a 3 year contract which he was going to sign on his return from Holiday. If I was Frank now personally I would have concerns. Palace clearly want Nuno but am being told it’s more likely going to be Frank unless Nuno accepts. I know Dougie was in talks last night with Nuno representatives & is trying hard to get a deal completed. My gut still tells me it will be Frank. Personally though I would love Nuno. Cheers Dazza , Anyone know when Frank is back from his Holls , either would be a good signing , Feels like it dragging on forever .

If you are indeed in the know then now is probably time to head to the bookies as Lampard has slipped out to 14-1 with some. Stick £100 on and you can enjoy your summer with a fat wallet and a knowing smile. I suppose it depends on how much you trust your source. My source is clickbait, so I change my mind every hour. My gut currently tells me it will be Howe, but I too would love Nuno.

Why do footballers and managers always agree on deals but delay signing them until they return from holiday? It's the equivalent of when a villain arranges for James Bond to die in some elaborate and painful manner, but then goes off and just leaves him to it rather than just shooting him. Amazing how they all seem to go on holiday somewhere where it’s impossible to send and receive documents. It’s almost as if it wasn’t true in the first place? But who would go to the trouble of making stuff up and then evermore unlikely scenarios why their predictions didn’t happen? Hmmm...

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Can't help feeling that this is turning into a mess re: Lampard vs. Nuno with both whom I humbly believe would make for terrific managers. It never bodes well though when one is set to sign and yet the club then develop a hankering for another given sudden availability. If both club and Lampard were committed, then surely the contract should've been signed either pre or during holiday with matter resolved. Or is this just common sense vs. the bizarre world of top flight football?

And if I was Steve Parish I would be having some concerns around why a holiday gets in the way of a contract being signed. Now I know the world of football bares little resemblance to real life, but surely Lampard's agent and legal team would just advise him to sign ( if terms are in order ) wherever in the world he is. The appointment can be announced and any physical signing ( together with obligatory photo holding a club scarf ) can be done when Frank returns. Saying that, I can envisage a Teams/Zoom call ; '' Hi Steve, I'm back and I'm raring to go ! '' Why would Parish announce Lampard with nothing signed, potential for huge embarassment, if he changes his mind, as football people do often. Nothing makes sense, but the football world is full of half stories and people adding their own bit. Until anyone signs and seen holding the shirt, believe nothing.

We have nothing tangible to suggest Lampard is even being considered. Everything we know is speculation based on who is out of work or might be interested. The idea that an agreed contract requiring only a signature would be unsigned because of holiday plans is risible. And where can Lampard have gone, couple of weeks taking in the sights of Gibraltar Originally posted by Sportyteacher

OK so just watched the first episode of the Palace Documentary on Amazon Prime. (Please no spoilers to the other episodes, not going to binge watch them I'd like to savour each one lol). Interesting that Parrish seems to hold Loyalty and verbal agreements as very important. He spoke of how he lined up Howe as a replacement for Burley and Howe seems to agree only to sign as Burnley's manager the next say. I think you could tell that really grated on Parrish and somehow I don't feel it is a slight he will forget. Does make me think that he will not be interested in Howe now.

Parish did of course 'forgive' Freedman, or we wouldn't be here now as DoF, so perhaps he's not a serious grudge holder? Whether past sins count against Howe now or not, one thing we perhaps overlook when weighing the various pros and cons of the mooted candidates is that Parish has not only to feel the can work with the new man (who in turn must be able to work with him and Dougie), but he must feel he can utterly trust him. CPFC is his baby in every way. If it goes badly it will be far, far worse for Parish than for the average chairman, and I'd think a part of SP is assessing these candidates in the way a parent assesses a babysitter. Quite right too.

Lol a fair point, my apologies. I thought it was fairly well known tat we had Howe ready to come in only for him to run to Burnley. Originally posted by Eaglecoops
