I have been reading a number of articles regarding Steve Cooper, and of course take them with a pinch of salt, but on the other hand do you dismiss everything that is writen, there must be some truths one or two issues are coming to lite that things are not as they seem with his playing and management style. Some Swan fans would be happy to see him go, and were surprised they actual got into the play off as their form was some what abysmal.
I am getting the impression that if Cooper is not offer the Palace job then there is the possibility that he might be sacked, the only stumbling block to that issue is that Swansea would have to pay a large compensation package. Over the last week Cooper’s odds have dwindled greatly and by all accounts is now behind, Nuno, Howe, Lampard and Dyche. It would be of interest to see how things devolve at Swansea with Cooper.

The closest I've come to comprehending this drawn out saga is that Nuno is manager (3 days of talks) with Lampard as assistant (seen at training ground a few times)...

I think it was fairly common knowledge that Roy was on £4.5m a year, but according to this (if accurate) [Link]
Ancellotti was on £11m per year! I had thought maybe we might be able to compete on salary, but seemingly not (although I highly doubt Nuno would get that much as Carlo as he is not as high profile).

It also makes you wonder, if we got Nuno I'd imagine he would want at least what Roy got, whereas Ismael or Cooper may well take the job for far less. Lampard was supposedly on £8m per year, so would he want something similar? If the club is trying to lower the wage bill then these things may come into play (although personally for the right man I think Parish would get the chequebook out.

Anyway, if dazza is correct then we'll find out today

Cooper's comments after the play-off defeat would seem to suggest that he would be leaving the club.Time will tell!

It’s driven by the minority of fans. For me I go on facts and not feeling.

- He has done well at england youth level winning a trophy
-In his two season at championship level he has reached the play-offs
-His win ratio with swansea is better than Graham Potter and Potter is linked with the Spurs job.
-His budget ratio was only two places above Barnsley, yet he managed to out fox Ishmeal quite comfortably in both legs.

The Roy out brigade was banging on about a young manager who would play youth and be flexible with tactics. A man able to work on a shoestring and coach players. His championship credentials are on a par with Lampard, without the likes of Mount, Tomori etc… in the team. But Lampard is seen by some as a ideal candidate over Cooper. Admittedly, his style can be questionable at times, but I don’t think he should be dismissed because a section of the swans fans don’t like him.

Yes, he will 100% be a gamble, but a gamble I would prefer over some of the candidates. He would want to be here which is a start.

We seem to be 2nd or 3rd choice with other higher profile managers.

Excellent post. I have to say I agree, especially on the final point. As soon else said on here, we need someone who needs to succeed at Palace. Big-name managers have a safety net if it goes wrong at Palace - the media will blame us not them - whereas Cooper doesn't.

Guys I can only share what I am told, I am still being told that Lampard will be the new manager however Nuno coming available has opened up further discussions as the club would favour Nuno. (But was not originally available)

I am now told that Lampard was offered a 3 year contract which he was going to sign on his return from Holiday.

If I was Frank now personally I would have concerns.

Palace clearly want Nuno but am being told it’s more likely going to be Frank unless Nuno accepts.

I know Dougie was in talks last night with Nuno representatives & is trying hard to get a deal completed.

My gut still tells me it will be Frank.

Personally though I would love Nuno.

And if I was Steve Parish I would be having some concerns around why a holiday gets in the way of a contract being signed.

Now I know the world of football bares little resemblance to real life, but surely Lampard's agent and legal team would just advise him to sign ( if terms are in order ) wherever in the world he is.

The appointment can be announced and any physical signing ( together with obligatory photo holding a club scarf ) can be done when Frank returns.

Saying that, I can envisage a Teams/Zoom call ;

'' Hi Steve, I'm back and I'm raring to go ! ''
'' Hi Frank - nice tan ''
'' I'll get that contract back to you today Steve ''
'' Err...we need to talk ''....

Why do footballers and managers always agree on deals but delay signing them until they return from holiday?

It's the equivalent of when a villain arranges for James Bond to die in some elaborate and painful manner, but then goes off and just leaves him to it rather than just shooting him.
