Well if it isn’t, then it should be. It would be ridiculous to say that because you have done something previously you ignore what is happening in the present. They will only consider changing if we are in a relegation place and cut off and considering we are not and haven't ever been under this manager your words are a waste of time.

We shall see, Roy has got credit in the bank atm. I want him to see this season out, but keep losing to the lesser sides there will only be one way this is heading! Sheff.U have actually been playing very well most of their games have been close losses and they are only suffering now from confidence and probably good old shock with being in this mess, they have as much chance of beating us we do them. Fair enough but will you be saying that if Roy takes us down this season? I would say our chances of staying up this season are currently about 70/30 in our favour but it won’t take many bad results for that to sink to 50/50. I think Sheffield are done, but the other two spots are very much up for grabs. Watch WBA’s defence improve post Jan transfer. I would prefer to watch us improve and watch Poltergeist take his team down.

Edited by Tickled pink (01 Jan 2021 8.51pm) 11 of their defeats have been by a solitary goal so they have not been consistently defeated comprehensively. They have lacked a cutting edge up front and their performances have been better than their league position suggests. Last week against Leicester we were not expected to win but tomorrow the pressure will really be on us.

IMO this puts things into perspective in terms of our current predicament, why we need to replace Roy and if we don't do something soon to arrest this slide we will be in serious problems. See link for English Football 2020 League table we are 82nd out of 92, only Brighton and Sheffield United of sides currently in the Premier League are below us. I understand that this takes into account teams playing in lower leagues, so therefore a weaker standard of opposition. But the fact remains they are still playing and competing at their relative levels. Doesn't make good reading; COYP You have to just look at our position now in the table don't you and where we'd be if we win the next game. I'd imagine you and many many others will actually be unhappy if we do win sadly.

Yes I know lol, but what can our club do in this situation surely removing a manager who so far with us has got us over the line quite comfortably every season and with a squad that everyone understands is not as a whole outstanding in the slightest what would be the point of bringing in somebody else who has a lot less experience then the manager we have now of knowing what to do with an ageing and knackered bunch of man who struggle almost every game to pass to each other lol, I know I'd rather have our manager then anyone else to acquire the desired points to avoid relegation and to do it comfortably again like last season. Next season if we can afford the luxury then we could introduce someone new to allow him a whole season to experiment properly and I'd expect Mr Hodgson to move upstairs.

I'm not picking on you specifically, but I doubt the criteria for sacking the manager is anything other than relegation. However, it is interesting that you use the phrase "pretend you know". This thread is littered with pretence of knowledge regarding Roy Hodgson. "He has his favorites", "He doesn't like to try youth players", "He only has one plan", there are a lot more examples of this, all unfounded but taken as true by the "Roy out" brigade. There is one poster who detests him so much, and with such venom, that I'm convinced that Roy must have shagged his mum. Or his wife.....or both!!!!! The bulls*** stats continually posted, selectively, would have us swapping places with Sheff U if they were realistic, not playing them tomorrow.

Currently, there is no pressing reason to sack Hodgson. He has done and will probably continue to do what is required of him which is to ensure PL survival. I'm not saying that this should be the extent of our ambition, but given what we've been through over the last 40 years, to be looking at hopefully moving into a 9th consecutive season in the PL will be some achievement. Although Hodgson has said that he has the strongest squad he's had so far in his tenure, this is not the same as saying we have a great squad or even a strong squad especially when we compare ourselves to the other clubs in this league. Our age profile is such that we can only become weaker unless we offload some of our older players and replace them with younger ones with the capacity to improve. The key period for us will be from the West Ham Game until the end of Feb during which period we have 7 winnable games. Our points tally before the Spurs away game at the beginning of March may well decide whether or not we will be facing a relegation battle as we have an even worse run-in than last season.
