Good public relations is part of life today when so much of what appears in social media is untrue. Action that is publicly known about is true. Quite a lot of devoted to having to deal with him and his antics, which diverts scarce resources and helps no-one.

Those who read this guy's original comments on the Police response know how disingenuous he is. That he talks of disgust just blows my mind. He supported actions the Police took that not only have been heavily criticised in official reports....but also his excuses aren't used in those reports as acceptable reasons for what happened. Inaction enabled rapes to continue unpunished for decades. There were deaths that were related to this, fathers were arrested trying to save their girls from these rapists. Girls were picked up by their rapists from Police reception...this happened. This was never a resources problem, that's a disgusting slur. This was a policy problem. The police had more resources and numbers back when this was in full flight than they do now....this guy is really the giddy limit. This problem is still with us today and its guys like him with his mealy mouthed justifications that defend the indefensible. Edited by Stirlingsays (04 Sep 2022 7.58pm)

An organisation like the Gates Foundation is not a “private party” anyway. It is an open, non profit making, philanthropic institution.

How long is Wisbech"s yellow going to last mods? He does take lots of flak on here and seems to have had that yellow longer than other posters carried theirs! And just for clarification- how long does a yellow last? Not an impression that's very accurate.

You could ask a mod if this bothers you so much. While you're at it you could book a hotel room for you and your apparently beleaguered WE down in highly diverse crime ridden Cornwall.

I am beginning to think you have an obsession with trying to rewrite my opinions. I have never suggested that police resources were the only issue, only that we need to cut them some slack when we ask them to do so many things that it's impossible for them to do them all. That so many police forces seem to have adopted the same strategy suggests to me that there was some co-ordination behind it. Which further suggests that not only was the scale misunderstood centrally, but that another approach was considered the appropriate way to handle things. The police taking the heat for a centrally determined policy, if indeed that's what it was, seems unreasonable. My approach has always been that those responsible are criminals and deserve to be found and punished. However, the over-riding priority had to be the safety of the victims and to stop as many further occurrences as possible. The way to do that doesn't necessarily involve just the police. Social workers, schools and community groups are just as important. I would not have wanted to have been the ones trying to decide how to achieve the best outcome. You are bound to get mud slung at you from somewhere. Slinging mud is easy. Writing reports with the benefit of hindsight is useful to learn lessons and improve outcomes. Always getting things right the first time, impossible.

Your clarification is a distinction without a difference and was read clearly the first time.

In general terms, IMHO the vast majority on here will put up an opinion or view and not expect to be taken as a fact because it's their opinion, i.e the " anyone with a brain would agree with me " method. Hypothetically if some one did this often , and then acted as a deluded, idiotic, pompous, arrogant geriatric then in my opinion, a a degree of push back from the sensible majority would be expected. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but not their own facts etc
