Worth a watch. Note the store front with "Vienna Bolognas & Sausages" written on it. This's where the saying "A load of old baloney" comes from. Bologna sausage is a b******ised version of Italian mortadella, sold alongside all the other imported meat products in the US.

Did you know that pastrami was originally made by Romanian immigrants? Made from cured, air dried and smoked lamb / mutton. The Americans started making it from beef brisket.

Shame Wisbech is such a way from Bristol or I'd invite you over for one of my Reuben sandwiches. 9 ounces of home made salt beef griddled on my wife's rye with home made sauerkraut, russian dressing and local cheese. I think you'd probably like it.

Sounds top notch!

This is why I get frustrated with a lot of the debate here. People automatically assuming that I'm a leftie because I don't see immigration itself as the problem. Yes it causes problems, of couse it does and we'll have to deal with them somehow. But immigration is a symptom, the illness is our political and economic system. You can lock out the immigrants but that won't cure the disease.

Murray's kind of resigned to the future but he's scathing and very critical of how we got here and how poorer we will be for it.

As a nationalist I obviously see immigration as one problem but you're certainly right, it's by no means the only one.

I suppose we waffle about immigration so much because it's a lot easier to decide on than those other problems.

It was also a main driver on the Brexit vote and I suppose that's the thread we're on.....We must be getting near some kind of thread record.

Reminds me of a bloke I worked for at LWT donkey's years ago who described some uncultured colleagues as being a bunch of palestines.

I was wondering if the assumed anti immigrant brexit vote was skewed by the recent terrorist attacks.
What i mean is that subconsciously people will see less immigrants as potentially less terrorists.
I do believe this might be why now some people dont know why they voted bexit.
I think it was anger more than logic.
I really dont beleive 17m people are racist xenophobes.

Of course they aren't but as the leavers keep reminding us remainers quite justifiably, you don't have to be a racist to decide that we've had enough of immigration.

but then logically people who still think we'd be better off remaining might also prefer less immigration.

Not sure how old you are but like many people I grew up in the 70s and 80s when those lovely people the IRA often used to commit atrocities. I wouldn't allow what they did to change my values. I wouldn't want them to win in that way. But how other people react I can't say.

Sadly however I guess some people might have thought that stopping EU freedom of movement would alleviate the risk of "islamic" terrorism. Even though that risk is almost entirely from outside the EU.

Having less Irish immigration was never a difficult sell....before, during or after the IRA....it was the traditional cheap labour for the middle and elite class and competition for the working before wider options became more readily available.

However, being so close and in the British isles itself...we are intrinsically linked with the Irish both historically and culturally....half my family is northern Irish.

The European continent....for the average Briton...culturally at least.....not so much.

Understood and of course you're right.

But I prefer to simply ask, is this a good person?

Nothing else really bothers me.

A quote that I guess you're familiar with..
