Helmet - I know are off topic but I have just posted about the lack of leadership on the Boris thread - and Wisbech - our politics are different but I agree and have said before that Maggie was the last real Leader we had.

Exactly. When I grew up like most teens I wanted a 14" portable TV in my bedroom.

Today the kids have laptops and tablets so apart from the niche market for 12 volt TV's for boats and caravans they don't bother to make them any more or at least they are not top quality.

Just spent the last few months trying to find a decent 28 inch smart tv with enough input for devices...there was only one choice in the end. There is a market for small tv's albeit not as popular as the large screen brigade.

Talking of large screens, I wandered into Curry’s the other day, they didn’t have what I wanted, just printer ink. I was drawn by the TV dept, so had a look round, could believe the size of the TVs and quality, they had a 90 inch one. How many people have got a room big enough to site a 90 inch screen, then get far enough away to watch.

The only decent thing about the BBC is iplayer, when you can watch when you feel like it.

I think the next big thing for TV's is the move to projectors.

They have been around for ever but the quality was nowhere near current TV's. However I have seen articles recently that the ones coming out in the next year or so are top notch. Of course you need a certain amount of space but it has the added attraction that the projector is small and the pull down screen can just be rolled up into the ceiling when not in use.

So instead of tripping over a large screen TV dominating your living room you can just pull the screen up and down when required and if you have a white wall you don't even need a screen.

The BBC Sounds app I highly recommend.

Even has audiobooks now.

You don't need to subscribe to a lot of streaming services and their inane ads.

Their is a choice, you can have either.

I have a projector as well as a big TV. I used the projector a bit when I bought it, but now I hardly bother.
You just don't want to watch a 100 inch screen all the time, and you either have to have it wired in and have it on the ceiling or at the correct distance and position on a table for the throw of the picture. The projectors can be noisy, and they get hot, plus you have to have space to fit the screen.
I'm sure they are brilliant if you have a dedicated cinema room, but you aren't going to watch The Chase on one every night in your lounge.

You didn't say how old your project was but you make valid points. Those are the issues they need to address especially screen size. You need a projector where the customer can adjust the screen and not lose quality so one might have 100" screen another 35".

It's only a year and a half old.

If you want one that has all the bells and whistles, then it is going to cost several thousand pounds. You could buy a 75inch oled for less.

We bought a 55 inch OLED TV instead of each buying the other Christmas presents this year. I did a lot of research first and settled on the Hisense. The quality is wonderful. The colours and sharpness make watching TV a completely new experience. And the number of built-in apps means I could watch a different channel every day of the year, never mind a different programme. Although I still watch the BBC more than anything else, along with bowling on YouTube. The nature programmes are especially great.

I have it hanging on the wall, at a slight down angle, so it takes up no space. I have also hidden the cables behind the plasterboard, so it looks very neat and tidy. No need for a projector. Best of all, it cost under £500.

That would be nice! To have so much dosh as to be able to leave enough on deposit to generate £6,000 a year in interest at today's miserly rates. Regrettably it's untrue.

Well that is the benchmark that projectors will have to beat if they want the public to buy them. As I said it is the next generation of Projectors which they have announced at the tech fairs so I expect it will be 2/3 years before we see them.
