Each individual should obviously look to minimise their risks....However, if you aren't bringing home the bacon eventually the bellies are going to rumble....to use a rather crap metaphor. What can I say....I'm a nationalist, in some ways what is coming will benefit my politics. However, I'm not going to enjoy what's coming and I genuinely feel for those that have and are going to be paying the price for this....whether via illness or economically. What is true is more important to me than acceptance....perhaps it's a bit of autism. If you don't stand with the crowd you won't be thanked even if you were right....no one likes smug basstards....I get it. Let's just hope those like me are wrong....I'm starting to see a few hedging their bets and playing both arguments.....but personally I think the world economy is far too sensitive for that. The sooner we get back the less the long term damage.
Who’s hedging their bets by playing both arguments? Commentators or politicians? I agree the sooner we get back the less the long term damage but also the more the virus moves from one carrier to two, over and over again without a strategy or kit to deal with it. We’ve already seen Western Europe without a plan, I don’t think that bodes well for another cross our fingers and hope not to die.

It isn't the only way. It is the ultimate way to defeat it, unless it mutates, but the trials on existing anti viral drugs could very well yield ways to reduce the impact.

I am led to believe that as of 1 April, the North terminal will be closed and all flights will operate to/from the South terminal. In general terms, gargantuan problems for the airline industry and associated businesses. I wouldn’t want to be that family stranded in India. China cases rising again from the trough on the graph as Chinese nationals fly home from Britain and other places without being tested at departure.

Pictures from around the world don't lie, but this article from a retired Professor of Pathology and NHS Consultant from the Spectator makes for interesting reading. I've copied a couple of paragraphs from towards the end of the article to give a taste of what it's about. "The moral debate is not lives vs money. It is lives vs lives. It will take months, perhaps years, if ever, before we can assess the wider implications of what we are doing. The damage to children’s education, the excess suicides, the increase in mental health problems, the taking away of resources from other health problems that we were dealing with effectively. Those who need medical help now but won’t seek it, or might not be offered it. And what about the effects on food production and global commerce, that will have unquantifiable consequences for people of all ages, perhaps especially in developing economies? Governments everywhere say they are responding to the science. The policies in the UK are not the government’s fault. They are trying to act responsibly based on the scientific advice given. But governments must remember that rushed science is almost always bad science. We have decided on policies of extraordinary magnitude without concrete evidence of excess harm already occurring, and without proper scrutiny of the science used to justify them."
Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |
