Nobody knows the actual situation, but IF the player doesn't want to come to Palace then I think we should forget the whole thing.

Obviously we aren't going to be first choice for most top players, but those who do sign should accept the situation and act professionally and give their best.

However, a player who is more or less forced out of his club and signs with us because it's the only option is unlikely to play to his full potential, and might be a bad influence on team morale.

Why waste a fortune on fees and wages for a player who is unmotivated?

Cos he scored just under 50 goals in 90 or so games at Villa, so has proved to be a brilliant striker and fits our style of play, if we have one, perfectly. Just cos he had one average season as a substitute striker, scoring around 10 in I think 30 is no reason to write him off completely
