Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but Serbia had a recently discontinued a year long policy of providing visaless entry to Iranians.

Exactly this was done to encourage trade between the 2 countries however many Iranians were taking advantage of this for a better life. They are not refugees but economic migrants.

Why they would want to trek across Europe and then risk crossing the channel to the UK beats me. After all aren't we a racist country that doesn't welcome bl**dy foreigners. Surely Brexit has proved that the other EU member countries are much nicer places to live and work, or are they.

How do you come to that conclusion?

They flew to Serbia on a scheduled airline. Iran is not in a state of civil war or mass upheaval. Iram is not Rwanda or even Afghanistan.

I cannot say that each and every one is an economic migrant but I doubt you can say they are all refugees. It is a reasonable assumption.

Ah well, not the first time I've ruined a joke.

You're right I can't.

What's the point of imposing sanctions on Iran if it doesn't result in something approximating upheaval?

There has been upheaval in Iran since the seventies.....it's any old excuse. The US imposed sanctions, not the UK. So the 'responsibility' argument is pure poppycock. I have zero responsibility for the decisions of elites and other rich arseholes.

All countries have upheaval. With some time limited exceptions for humanitarianism, no one should be allowed into this country unless they are of provable benefit to it. We are suffering under problems created by pro mass immigration 'no nations idealogs' and economic exploiters......collectively they have been a disaster.

We have a lot of conflict and suffering in store thanks to these selfish fools.

Like Badger said, you let in foreigners and get called racists twenty years later for your troubles......Like the Japanese....here's an idea, only let them in to work and don't allow them permanent residency.....and be serious about it.

Japan has a severe lack of social cohesion issues....low crime...no balkanization problems there.....No one waxing lyrical about 'diversity'.

It comes at a price, Japan's debt burden is an eye watering 250% of GDP, when you consider UK's at it's worst post 2008 crisis was 80%, it gives you some perspective. Their ecomomy is no longer seen as dynamic and there is a huge problem with filling skills gaps and a huge labour shortage, the low birthrate high life expectancy their economy is completely unsustainable

People have predicting the demise of the Japanese economy for many decades yet their people continue to have a higher living standard than us, low crime and good social cohesion.

They have continually refused and voted against immigration....They were listened to.

I won't deny that I'm a bit wary of replying to you PP. I'm ok with you trolling but I'm bored participating....and to be honest I want to consider the readers and pull the horns in a bit....more playing the ball and not the man.

However this was a sensible post.

All highly developed economies run on debt.....and automation will sort out the labour shortage....And Japan will still be Japanese.

They won't have a country called Japan that isn't really Japan because it has a majority living in it with partial or full loyalties to elsewhere and continual resentment.

There's a reason that east Asians have the highest average IQs.
