No, but it would give us the chance to vote in a government that could put in place measures to prevent them from successfully landing, without the risk of the EU telling said government that they're not allowed to.

Just returning to the core of the issue of Brexit we have a fundamental problem. 75% plus of the MP’s in the House of Commons are remainers and worse than that think they know better than their electorate (we didn’t know what we were voting for etc). That to me was painfully obvious as one by one we had an endless procession of (1) The peoples vote gang (2) the capitulating soft brexit / Mays deal crowd and (3) worse of all the we’re all racist David Lammy types. Add to that the real Brexiteers like Rees-Mogg have been portrayed as clowns or worse by the lefty media and despite all this we have a majority of expectant leave voters waiting for parliament to deliver. Can’t see a happy ending.

How do you stop an Iranian refugee from drowning?

This is indeed at the core of the issue. Would you prefer that we moved away from representative democracy and towards direct democracy?

Would that require another referendum?

It is possible to think that someone is wrong without believing that you're better than they are. For example I think that we should remain but I also understand and respect the reasons why 52% voted leave.

You can't....not any one individual.

It isn't the responsibility of the west in the first place.

Probably best to make sure they don't swim or get in boats. Staying in Iran and taking swimming lessons probably the best bet.

Up to March 28th 2019 I would deploy British troops on French soil to deter them getting in the boats in the first place. If they have managed to trek through half a dozen countries to get to the French shores they should of applied for asylum in one of those countries.

Brexiteers whose MPs won't follow the wishes of the populace should make it plain to the Government that despite their party loyalties they will vote against the Conservatives at the next election which could focus their minds a little more.
