I think the answer to that question can also be found with Campbell.

He's an example of an intelligent and ethical man who has always been part of the establishment and has had an important job helping people all his life.

He took the vaccines and three boosters I think.

I'm talking generally here but I think the answer can be found in the generation people come from. Boomers were raised by an establishment and elites that was closer to them than today's elites. They by default trust authority figures.....ally that with covid being more dangerous to them, especially if they were ill and bingo near total compliance.

That's also true for my generation, which is generation X....but the start of a more skeptical and questioning nature really started to kick off with us. As the nature of elites changed we were interested enough to notice the change and reacted to it....less set in our ways.

That said, if covid had happened back in 2015 before I was red pilled maybe I would have taken the vaccine along with everybody else....I'll never know.

I'm 52 do I don't know what generation that makes me. Lol

The guy Mattias Desmet goes into how we were tricked. More importantly how we are always tricked. This time it didn't end up with world war 3. Not yet anyway.

Desmet says that people who have been through the establishment training and become doctors, accountants, teachers etc also have trust in the system. Which answers for me why intelligent people fell for it. More classically intelligent than me for sure.

Also people that used to question big pharma and government suddenly started trusting them. " Don't do your own research". Trust us as your only place for truth. Mass formation psychosis.

I sincerely feel sorry for Campbell. I didn't agree with his pushing of the narrative from the start. But it takes a man to say he was wrong. You can see how distressed he is about it.

Russell Im not too sure of. Remember him with our Nigel. Ultimately these cults of personality shouldn't matter and hopefully we don't rely on their every word to find some truth.

Gen X: Born 1965-1980 (43-58 years old)

Fully agree.

I understand how you feel about Brand but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. He's not right wing, far from it, but you don't have to be to be against how globalism is forming and imposing itself upon all our lives.

There are genuine opportunities for forms of alliances there that aren't about traditional left or right differences......more elites versus everybody else.

Yep. I would rather have a drink with someone I disagree with but who respects my rights. Plus the debate is entertaining. People on both sides of the divide want to curb certain rights we have. I have to say it's more on the left at the moment. But let's face it; over the last 3 years we've had a socialist government. Controversial maybe?

I do watch Brand quite a bit and agree in general with him. He's so much funnier doing his political pieces than his stand up ever was. In my opinion.

It's neo liberal but in terms of spending it might as well have been socialist certainly. How different Corbyn would have been with spending....who knows, it couldn't have been that much worse.

Yep, Brand is quite brilliant whether we agree politically or not. His command and love of the English language is obvious. I use to use his written pieces for English literacy back when I was teaching.

He is amazing intellect. He can certainly flow. When you think of the drugs he's done.

I see the never ending spreading of disinformation continues unabated in this thread, combined with self congratulatory back-scratching and references to those who monetise distrust via uninformed video platforms.

I find this both depressingly familiar and worrisome for our future. These people are mature adults. If they teach their children this nonsense what hope have they got?

One line though stood out among the dross as especially ridiculous:-

“Governments are not going to just give up the truth to us. That's why conspiracy theories exist.”

That first statement IS a conspiracy theory!

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

If they are hiding something, they won't tell us the truth. Thats what I mean.

It sounds like you were feeling a little left out Mr Wisbech. Glad you joined us.

Although I feel bringing my children into the conversation not too chilvalrous from you. I don't speak to my children about politics. I just give them lots of love - and money.

Personally I've always been anti recreational drugs but he came back from his addiction well and has some interesting observations.

On the whole drugs issue I'm never quite certain.....Sometimes I agree with Hitchens that the war on drugs has never actually been waged and should be and then I listen to Brand and consider that different approaches are required......Don't know.

Personally if you're an adult then maybe legalization has some appeal. But unless they legalize it we won't know for sure.

Alcohol is legal and causes untold Misery.I don't drink anymore. Maybe alcohol is showing us it would'nt be a great idea.

Did my fair share of pills when I was younger. Not great for mental health. At least I can give my kids an honest answer on them.

Drugs are like drink. Some can be sensible and others not when using it. The kingdom of heaven is inside of us. No need for any drugs or drink to be happy. A good win next Saturday will help.

As for the war on drugs. Until the invasion of Afghanistan. No drugs were coming out of there for a few years.

Ricky Ross running drugs for the cia is another example where they don't seem too bothered. Maybe it's about cutting out the competition.

Pretty much agree on that, though I'm a bit of a square like that as I was never into all that....more the gym. I just got hammered occasionally on the booze when I was younger but that was always more social than being into it.

Yeah, it's funny when you hear about what the CIA and other security agencies are alleged to get up to......Literally being funded by their taxpayers to be the actual criminals.

Quite crazy.

Nothing really seems to have changed either.
