This post has been merged from a topic called 'CPFC's 3-goal £27m Striker Wants To Stay' by Midlands Eagle Seeing as he has two years left on his deal I think he is tempted by the advantages he will have by running down another 12 months. That will leave the club over a barrel and CB will hold all the cards. If a decent offer comes in. Sell!

This post has been merged from a topic called 'CPFC's 3-goal £27m Striker Wants To Stay' by Midlands Eagle TBH it is a nothing article. There is nothing in what CB says that concerns me at all, if anything it sounds like he wants to give it a go at Palace and realises he has had a very poor season. Can't begrudge him anything he has said in the slightest. We'd all be up in arms if had a great season and was waxing lyrical about wanting to leave for a bigger club.

I think you're worryingly right. We'll do well to persuade anyone to pay big money for the privilege of paying £5.2m wages a year in return for 3 goals. That's the same as Tomkins, the same as PvA, and half that of Bacary Sako! Even his penalty the other day left more questions that answers regarding his ability. For a 'smash' down the middle it didn't really strike me as particularly emphatic. I don't think I've ever been so disappointed by a player. That's the only criticism I have left. Maybe I just over-rated his ability. I want him to come good, I still believe he's got it in there somewhere, but he needs to sort his f***ing head out and get a winning mentality back. Walking around with the weight of the world on his shoulders his not doing any favours. Reading the other day about his disappointment at losing his Belgian squad place just adds to his over-whelming lack of belief. He's trying to say the right things but he strikes me as so self-conscious of his poor form, he's lost all instinct and just dwelling in negativity. I'm not sure he believes he's still got it. I have sympathy and support for him, but I want to grab him and shake some sense into him. He can seek support and inspiration from others, but ultimately his confidence has to come from the actions he takes It is up to him to get back to who he was.

An unpopular opinion no doubt but I want to keep him. He's had a poor season but has proved himself capable of scoring goals in this division which can't be said of the other two strikers. Sorloth still relatively untested and we don't know how Wickham will be when he returns. We need a 4th striker and with the added competition he will have to raise his game.

I would agree with you, he kept us up last season with his goals, and brings more to his game than many want to admit, obviously hasn"t had a great season this year but was injured and made a mistake with the bournemouth penalty decision, but won the penalty saturday and then delivered, so all good, a summer off on the beach and i would like to see him starting next season! You can see the squad unity on saturday after his goal so all is forgiven, in my eyes!

The new issue against Benteke now is the type of chances we’re creating and goals we’re scoring. They don’t suit Benteke here and they didn’t at Liverpool. Hopefully Roy will solve the whole thing.

It was a fantastic moment on Saturday that brought closure to the penalty incident earlier in the season, after which I was as guilty as anyone in calling for his head. I reckon he scores once or twice more in our last few games and comes back stronger next season. I think our problem this year was all the injuries meaning that despite being woefully out of form and confidence we had no choice but to keep starting him. Next year with any luck we I'll have a healthier and deeper squad to avoid that conundrum.

Can't help but feel that both Palace and Benteke are up against it by way of any sale on to another club where there is scope for at least getting back what was paid for him. He will have certainly learnt this year of the importance of being a team player following his muppet error of judgment in Bournemouth game. He clearly has the potential to be a goal scorer and has defended well for us of late. I'd give him at least until next January on the condition that he trains hard during break in between seasons and comes back revitalised.

Rudi Hedman Caterham Today 1.25pm This is a key issue, Zaha seems now to be enjoying playing central in the new style, Benteke cannot play this way, so cut our loses, maybe someone like Galatasary may buy him for 15m, an a more mobile striker brought in, we will still have the big man option in Sorloth/Wickham on the bench

The FACTS are that since Benteke's injury forced Roy's hand, the tiki-taka style has borne 25% of our season's goals in just four matches! I wouldn't know who to drop to accomodate Big Ben but suggest that Sørloth has better feet to handle the quick passing. My vote is to cash in and use the money towards a decent replacement; someone who gives Roy a genuine selection headache.

The thing is people saying cash in and replace. With who exactly? Okay Benteke has had a toilet season but he is a proven goal scorer at this level, seems to want to stay and is backed by the management and the other players (plus a lot of the fans) if Saturday's penalty situation is anything to go by. We certainly need a decent back-up striker, however. I don't think we should be banking on Wickham at all.
