Just to confirm – as there seems some confusion on the other side of the Atlantic, although I acknowledge geography isn't a strong suit in the US and A – I am not, nor ever have been, a member of the Scottish persuasion. Durham isn't in Scotland and so I won't be moving to Scotland, independent or otherwise.

So I am sure others who have travelled further afield can claim the same. Being away also gives you a different prespective on patriotism and Britishness, as well as seeing how we are viewed by others. I travelled 1000 miles to find a better job and, 18 years later, I dont regret it! Have to be very careful how I answer that one. The English Channel is not an ocean and Macedonia is on the same continent, but I dont feel a 'bad' patriot. I am still very pro British (not just English, honest). So I am sure others who have travelled further afield can claim the same. Being away also gives you a different prespective on patriotism and Britishness, as well as seeing how we are viewed by others.
