The option to refuse was always there, and those who did were found non client contact roles. I don't know anyone in the UK who lost their job. There will always be rare cases of bad reactions. You need though to balance the overwhelming good effects, against the rare bad ones. Those who do need to be cared for themselves with the maximum amount of compassion. What happened to this particular nurse, in the USA, seems odd, and if true, unreasonable, but we have only her side of the story. It must not though obscure the bigger picture. It would certainly have happened in the culture I grew up in! If we had had such things available then. We didn't, so we couldn't, but the people back then were not stupid. If they could have done it, they would. We vaccinated against lots of things. No-one got excited. Quite amusing really. It literally took a few seconds to Google and find out that thousands lost their jobs in the UK over refusing the covid vaccine. God knows what the final figure was. I as usual utterly disagree with your opinions but I can't be bothered to feed your disfigured need for attention.

It’s a shame this thread has degenerated into a wastebin for partisan rabbithole drivel and endless unsubstantiated, knee jerk reposted dross. It turns out traders are even more stupid than I previously thought.
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

As we are specifically discussing those in front line nursing positions., your response is irrelevant nonsense, even if true, which I doubt. The referenced video was from a nurse (in the USA and not the UK) who claimed she lost her job. The mandatory requirement here was removed, after the general roll-out and testing regimes became established. I will, again, leave the personal insult, for others to assess.

Oh I see...apparently we are only discussing nurses in front line positions.....wow, what an important distinction that is....I guess those other people just aren't as important to you. It's notable that when you are factually wrong you can't bring yourself to face it. You just continue with your waffle merchant routine. Whether you regard criticism as an insult or not is irrelevant. I imagine those who lost their jobs regard you as quite insulting personally. Edited by Stirlingsays (07 Aug 2022 1.16pm)

It has nothing to do with whether they are less important. It just happens not to be the subject. That's the fact. That you chose to try to expand it isn't my responsibility. I was responding to the specific situation that was described in the video. There is a huge difference between criticism and insult. Perhaps you cannot recognise it? From your responses that appears to be the case. Criticism attacks opinions. Insult attacks the person.

From your responses that appears to be the case. Criticism attacks opinions. Insult attacks the person. You cannot easily separate criticism from insult, it's mostly subjective, one is regularly thought of as the other.....word play. You may want a snowflake's charter for every criticism other than those you deem acceptable but you just have to live in the real world. You apparently have issue with the way this site is moderated...regularly suggesting that criticism is insult and implying it should be censored. If you want observations to be censored far more then off with you to the BBS. Yet that's been suggested to you and you rejected it. Yet you also want to play the snowflake. It hasn't quite got through to you yet has it. This is the Hol. Embrace change. Now, I know you love nothing other than turning threads into dig fests over our differing perspectives on the world, but this should really be about the virus. Statistics. Everything from who is arranging the study, and what do they have to gain ? Right to the other end,...are statistical findings comparable against other studies ? And the answers are that no-one has all the information on how the data was generated and presented to 'us'. Drugs companies are most likely to have all the information that really matters, and commercial considerations mean they won't share it with anyone. Instead the electorate are drip fed redacted figures about the success of the vaccine. Got to keep the electorate faith in Government and ensure the drug company shareholders get a premium dividend.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Edited by Stirlingsays (07 Aug 2022 1.48pm) If I was a “snowflake” (the favourite insult of the vocabulary challenged right) I would have melted years ago. I can handle 10 of you with both hands tied behind my back. That you misinterpret my comments is only to be expected. In leaving them to others means I don’t care and won’t lower myself to respond in kind. It doesn’t mean I have either an issue with the moderation or any expectation they will get involved. That’s for them. It’s very simple to separate criticism from insult. One is objective comment on an idea the other a personal attack. Only the deliberately dense fail to comprehend that. Going to the BBS to confirm my own position might be what you do in reverse but isn’t for me. It’s for snowflakes.
